Saulkrasti is a town in Latvia, which lies on the east coast of Gulf of Riga. It stretches across 17 km from Lilaste river to Zvejniekciems village including. The town itself spans across 48 square kilometres , and includes 42 square kilometres of field and forest territory. The towns motto – The town closer to the Sun. Town which carries the name of the Sun. The coat of arms of Saulkrasti represents the four rivers Inčupe, Pēterupe, Ķīšupe, Aģe, and five villages – Bādciems, Katrīnbāde , Pēterupe, Neibāde, Zvejniekciems. The top parts represent the sea and the sun. Saulkrasti carries its present name since 1933, when the villages of east coast of Gulf of Riga were merged into one common municipal structure, and since 1991 it is a town. An EU funded bypass of the main A1 Motorway between Riga and Tallinn was completed in 2007, which will reduce through traffic, noise pollution and the large amount of lorries. Saulkrasti is the home to the annual Saulkrasti Jazz Festival.

We decided to take a trip to the beach in Saulkrasti which is situated on the baltic sea coastline, it was a wintry day at the beach and it turned out to be a very interesting place, there were white sand dunes, a river on the beach and plenty of snow, bbbrrrrrr.

Са́улкра́сты (латыш. Saulkrasti — переводе «Солнечные берега», ранее нем. Neubad) — город в Латвии, центр Саулкрастского края.
Население - 3200 человек.
Площадь территории города — 4,8 км². К городу прилегает полоса Видземского взморья длиной 17 км, от Лиласте до границы Лимбажского края в Скулте.
Саулкрасты — город четырёх рек: Инчупе, Петерупе, Кишупе, Аге. Город окружён многочисленными дачными кооперативами — Силмала, Петерупе, Юбилейный, Селга, Кишупе, Сауле и др.
Начиная с 1997 года в Саулкрасты каждое лето проводится джазовый фестиваль — Saulkrasti Jazz.

Daļēji nogruvusi Saulkrastu Baltā kāpa

Vairāku gadu garumā, realizējot dažādus projektus, Saulkrastu novada pašvaldība mēģina rast risinājumus, kā saglabāt un aizsargāt dabas pieminekli – Balto kāpu. Taču vai ik gadu nākas secināt, ka ar dabu nav iespējams cīnīties. Stipro vēju un erozijas ietekmē kāpa pirms dažām dienām daļēji nogruvusi, un tagad jālemj, kā to saglabāt. Ziņo Santa Baumane.
