The Saxon Shore Way: Gravesend To Cliffe 14 March 2016
The Saxon Shore Way is a 163 mile long distance footpath between Gravesend in Kent and Hastings in East Sussex. This is the first 8 miles of the path between Gravesend and the village of Cliffe. As you will see in the video, there is currently severe path erosion at Cliffe Fort- this could be dangerous for the less mobile. Hopefully, it will be rectified at some point. THe walk took place in sunny, but very blustery, weather on Monday 14 March 2016. I apologise for the unavoidable, but annoying, wind noise in the video.

The Saxon Shore Way: Faversham to Whitstable 26 September 2017
Its been six months since I walked any of the Saxon Shore Way, and so I thought I'd better do a further stage of this long distance footpath. So here is the 10 mile section between Faversham and Whitstable via Seasalter. The first half of this walk was glorious with wide open landscapes; the second half was not so good with lots of road walking. The walk took place in sunny, but hazy, weather, on Tuesday 26 September 2017. Sorry about the wind noise, but this is probably inevitable on such a wide open coastal walk.

The Saxon Shore Way: Sittingbourne to Conyer (Teynham) 25 November 2016
This is a day I won't forget....the Saxon Shore Way out of Sittingbourne goes along busy main roads, and then when I finally reach Milton Creek, I find the footpath is totally blocked! Note that this is the opposite bank of Milton Creek to that followed in the Swale to Sittingbourne walk of 18 November 2016. I then had to use an alternative path (not Saxon Shore Way) to reach the sea wall to rejoin the Saxon Shore Way- parts of this path were flooded and barely passable! On reaching the sea wall, guess what....gale force winds! So a pretty hard day. I walked about 6,5 miles in all, including 1.5 miles after finally leaving Saxon Shore Way at Conyer along the road to Teynham station. There are some great views in this video across the Swale from various vantage points on the sea wall. The walk took place in sunny, but at times very windy, weather on Friday 25 November 2016.
Ecclesbourne Glen, Hastings. Aerial view of landslide.
This aerial image was taken on 23 July 2015. The landslip is down-slope from Rocklands Private Caravan Park. The eight concrete hardstandings are part of an unauthorised development within the park. This area was populated with caravans prior to the landslide early 2014. The entire area to the south of the line of trees at the top of the slope has been designated as a recreation area and the siting of caravans or any other structure is a blatant breach of planning conditions.
This area used to be crisscrossed with public footpaths and has been the access to the Hastings Country Park for many decades. This area marks the end of the South Saxon Shore Way; a 163 mile historic long distant walk from Gravesend in Kent to Hastings in East Sussex.
The main landslide occurred in early 2014 following a period of heavy rain.
The Save Ecclesbourne Glen Campaign Group believe that the landslide is a direct consequence of these unauthorised developments.
