Säynätsalo town hall
The Säynätsalo Town Hall is one of architect Alvar Aalto’s most significant works. It enjoys a unique position in the history of modern architecture. Aalto designed the town hall as a gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art – as evidenced by the details and furniture designed especially for the building. Today, about 3,000–4,000 people visit the site every year. Some say that the town hall has made Säynätsalo the best-known island in Finland internationally.

Saynatsalo Town Hall- Alvar Aalto
This story line is based on my constrasting perceptions of the building; the Dad's perception shows appreciation and understanding of the building design and functionality and how the building incorporates and embraces the surrounding evironment. The son's perception is the outside appearance of the building being dull and scary.
The animation is in black and white to depict Finland in the 1950's, where the black and white television was still used.
During this time the colour TV was also introduced and created a big 'wow' reaction from the people, therefore contrasts of the building shown in colour represents this event.
Tourujoki nature trail in the Jyväskylä Region, Lakeland Finland
In the Jyväskylä Region the peace and quiet of nature can be enjoyed just a stone’s throw from the city centre. For example, Tourujoki nature trail that runs through Tourujoki nature reserve is located right next to the city centre but is still separate from the pulse of the city. Please note, however, that there is no winter maintenance in the trail. Be careful on the stairs and slippery slopes in winter season.
