午夜場放映《九九女人》，欲看色情片不果，曼谷青年毀戲院，上一場觀眾拒絕離場。
（泛亞社曼谷廿四日電）曼谷一群「急色兒」青年電影愛好者，昨夜（23rd May, 1971, Sunday）因欲觀看色情片不得其門而入，一怒搗毀影院票房之玻璃門及其它設備，結果其中四人遭警方逮捕，控以擾亂治安與損壞他人財物罪。此間『銀都戲院（โรงภาพยนตร์ สกาลา (Scala Cinema)）』昨晚（23rd May, 1971, Sunday）午夜場，優先獻映色情電影《九九女人》，聲言有大量裸體與同性戀鏡頭可看，好此道者紛紛搶購戲票，不料上一場之觀眾（放映片名《向日葵》）於散場時不肯離去，企圖連續看下去，院方宣布全院影票均已賣出，要求頭場觀眾必須離去。正值此時，一批買不到影票者突發狂性，情勢一發不可收拾，警方聞訊後趕赴現場，拘得四人，今日（24th May, 1971, Monday）予以起訴。《九九女人》定本週四正式公映。

(a telemail from the Pan-Asia News Agency, 24th May, 1971, Monday) Last night (23rd May, 1971, Sunday) in Bangkok, a gang of the young enthusiast for obscene movie, as they couldn't entry the showing hall, they angrily knocked the glass gate and equipments of the cinema, four of the rioters, were arrested by the police, they would be charged with disturbing public order and destroying the property. In Bangkok, the Scala Theatre (โรงภาพยนตร์ สกาล่า (銀都戲院)) held a midnight screening last night (23rd May, 1971, Sunday), released a new erotic film “99 Women, this film was emphasised with scenes of nudity and homosexual, attract a lot of lecherous audiences to buy the ticket. However, the audiences of the last show, refused to leave after watching their film “Sunflower (向日葵), and attempted to watch the obscene movie without a new ticket, cinema’s management announced that it is full house! audience who doesn't have ticket, must leave the showing hall immediately! At that moment, a gang of hooligans suddenly attacked the glass gate and other equipments of the box office, this event was immediately reported to the police office, the police rapidly arrived, and arrested four young hooligans, they would be charged today (24th May, 1971, Monday). This obscene movie would be officially released on 27th May, 1971,Thursday.
In Thailand, the Scala Cinema (โรงภาพยนตร์ สกาลา (銀都戲院)) was located in Siam I, Rama I Road - Siam Square Soi 2, Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330. Which is opened on 15th December, 1966, Thursday, equipped with an escalator, it is the first in Thailand. Unfortunately, it was closed on 31st May, 2018, Thursday, at the last!
In Hong Kong, the Silver Theatre (銀都戲院) was located at 88 Fu Yan Street (輔仁街), Kwun Tong (觀塘) district, Kowloon (九龍).

Day two, We went to visit kantana post production and I learnt a lot from there. We also went to the shopping mall and got to found out that every mall is being guard by a security because of the previous incident about the two small bomb rattled a luxury shopping mall. We also watch transformers the last knight at the Scala cinema. Fun fact: The Scala Cinema is one of the oldest single screen cinemas operating in central Bangkok. It opened in 1967.

This walk is from BTS Siam at rush hour through the street market (closing down at the time) to MBK. Siam BTS Station is rammed with commuters. I actually wanted the market to be in full flow because there is usually literally not one inch of room to walk.
The old cinema is the iconic Scala cinema which looks like it's stuck in a timewarp.

More info on the cinema: The Scala Cinema in Siam Square offers a more modest one-screen experience compared to the large complex situated in Siam Paragon just across the road. Built in 1967, this exquisitely maintained movie theatre is worth a trip not only for the bargain priced seats and popcorn, but also for the retro setting. From the tickets to the building, everything here has been preserved and it is worth a trip just to stand in the domed-ceiling entrance and be transported to another age.

Original long version of the intro video that we edited for the FrightFest Friday 24th August 2018 Scala Cinema book event during the festival. Alan Jones interviewed Jane Giles on stage before a 35MM screening of Blue Sunshine, this is the shorter version that was played as the intro for the event.
The Scala Cinema, was London's most notorious rep cinema that was open from 1978-1993 in Kings Cross. Programmer Jane Giles has now written the definitive history of the cinema. You can buy the book via FAB Press here:
