The place derives its name from the story of the commotion caused after the Maharaja of Patiala had eloped with the British Viceroy’s daughter at this junction point. The Shimla Scandal Point is a well-known tourist spot. This place derives its name from the story of the romantic king of Patiala. Popular lore is that the king of Patiala had a crush over the daughter of the Viceroy of India. One day while she was taking a stroll in this place, the King of Patiala kidnapped her. From then onwards the place came to be known as the Scandal Point of Shimla. Tourists assemble here every day to hear the age old story of the place from the guides. They remain busy in taking snaps of the place as well as the statue of freedom fighter Lala Rajpat Rai that has been erected at the place. I thought we are just going for a business meeting and maybe just have dinner somewhere for my birthday, but husband just took me on a road trip for a weekend at Shimla-The Queen of Hill stations. So I took the chance to do a video since I was not able to upload the first time we went to Shimla last 2016. This video will show the controversial Scandal Point, the Second Oldest Church in North India and Ridge Park. Daughter of British viceroy elopement with Maharaja from Patiala named as Bhupinder singh in 1892. So Maharaja did an scandal , From that time they named it Scandal point Shimla.
