Welcome to my Scattery Island Vlog. I had a great time exploring the monastic Island of Scattery. It's one of my favourite places ever, I love going there. There's something about the Island that attracts me to it. I don't know what it is, but I know there's something. Maybe I'm just weird. Scattery Island Documentary | County Clare - Day 33 Walking Around Ireland
Also known as Inis Cathaigh, Scattery Island is an island just off the coast of Kilrush in County Clare. You can take a boat to the island via I spent two nights camping on the island but please note this was a special invitation and camping is not generally allowed on Scattery Island.

About the Walk - I am walking around Ireland. I will be sleeping in a tent and it will take approx 3 months to complete the journey. I was initially just walking to the Great Blasket Islands but things change and I have decided to continue walking all the way around Ireland and back to my starting point in Dublin.
And in case you might be asking yourself, I am walking around Ireland because I really enjoy walking.

Scattery Island is an uninhabited monastic island located just 2 kilometres off the coast of West Clare on the Wild Atlantic Way. Although many tourist sites market themselves as being a 'hidden gem', a trip to Scattery really is a unique visitor experience.

This video is about a festival held (July 27th 2014) on Scattery Island - an island in the Shannon Estuary between Clare and Kerry just off Kilrush. This is amateur footage/audio recording stitched together in a hurry but I hope if gives a sense of the occasion.

We took a ferry out to the island where I shot a vlog and this movie...

Abandoned cottage on Scattery island, Co.Clare, Ireland. This cottage was built in the 1860's as accommodation for the lighthouse keeper and his family.

Scattery Island 19th c. Artillery Battery
One of six defenses along the Shannon estuary, this artillery battery was completed in 1814 in response to the English fear of a French invasion of Ireland by Napoleonic forces. It was abandoned in the 1890s.
