Places to see in ( Weimar - Germany ) Schiller Museum
The Schiller Museum with its three huge exhibition rooms covering an area of approx. 400 square metres is located on the north side of Friedrich Schiller’s historic residence. Completed in 1988, it is one of the few new museums constructed during the GDR regime.
The modern architecture with its partially glazed façade and cubature blends in with the atmosphere of the old town. From 1995, the building was used as office space for staff at the Goethe National Museum. In 1999, the exhibition rooms were restored to their original condition, and became the venue for various temporary exhibitions until 2006.
In order to facilitate the use of the exhibition rooms in the Schiller Museum for displays of items which required sensitive conservation, modern air-conditioning, electricity and security technology were installed in 2008.
Today, the museum, which was originally dedicated solely to the life and work of Schiller, is used as a venue for temporary exhibitions. The Schiller Museum is situated in the same building as Schiller Residence.

Weimar is a city in central Germany. It's known as the birthplace of Weimar Classicism, a humanistic cultural movement. The Goethe & Schiller Monument in front of the German National Theater celebrates the 2 writers, who lived in the city. Goethe’s baroque residence is now the Goethe National Museum. The Schiller Museum is adjacent to the writer’s home. Bauhaus Museum Weimar has works by architect Walter Gropius.
The historical epicentre of Germany's 18th-century Enlightenment, Weimar is an essential stop for anyone with a passion for the country's history and culture. A pantheon of intellectual and creative giants lived and worked here: Goethe, Schiller, Bach, Cranach, Liszt, Nietzsche, Gropius, Herder, Feininger, Kandinsky – and the list goes on. You’ll see them memorialised on the streets, in museums and in reverently-preserved houses across town. In summer, Weimar’s many parks and gardens lend themselves to quiet contemplation of all this intellectual and cultural gravity (or allow you to take a break from it).
Weimar is also the place where, post WWI, the constitution of the German Reich, known by historians as the Weimar Republic (1919–33), was drafted, though there are strangely few reminders of this historical moment. Nearby, the unadorned, unaltered remains of the Buchenwald concentration camp provide sobering testament to the crimes of the subsequent Nazi regime.
Weimar is the town of Goethe and Schiller and is found in Thuringia (Thüringen) state, Germany. Weimar is a small town with lots of tourists, most of whom come in on coaches for day-visits. Roads can be congested in the mornings and evenings. The best and most convenient way is by train. Deutsche Bahn offers direct connections from Berlin, Leipzig and Erfurt. Weimar Hauptbahnhof is about a kilometre from Goetheplatz. Weimar is small and the best way is by foot or bike. Weimar has a public transport system but as a tourist you won't need it. Taxis are at night the best way when you feel lost and they are used to cater tourists.
Weimar is one of the most historic sites in Germany. It was home of Goethe and Schiller, the two most famous German poets and writers, a lot to see in Weimar such as :
Bauhaus-University Weimar and the Haus am Horn, part of the Bauhaus Sites protected by UNESCO.
Stadtschloss (city castle) - Home of the biggest sponsor of Goethe and Schiller. Art gallery.
Anna Amalia Bibliothek - Unique library and art selection, famous for it's rococo style. A fire in 2004 did great damage but the library reopened in 2007.
Nationaltheater - Foundation place of the first German democracy in 1918 and successor of the Weimar Hof theatre where Goethe's premieres took place. Well-known theatre today.
Park an der Ilm - Picturesque garden with Goethes summer house. Lie down on the lawn and enjoy the scenery.
Belvedere - charming park with summer castle a short distance to the south of the city
Goethe- and Schiller-Memorial in the Theaterplatz - This is a very famous memorial for two great German writers.
Buchenwald - for a more somber outing, one can visit the famous Jewish concentration camp, just over the hill from Weimar in Ettersberg. It's a 20 minute bus ride from the train station. The Stalinist monument erected outside the camp once the Soviets took over is visible from the city.

Goethe House Museum in Frankfurt. Germany. 2016
See map:
Johann Wolfgang (von) Goethe was a German writer and statesman. His body of work includes epic and lyric poetry written in a variety of metres and styles; prose and verse dramas; memoirs; an autobiography; literary and aesthetic criticism; treatises on botany, anatomy, and colour; and four novels. In addition, numerous literary and scientific fragments, more than 10,000 letters, and nearly 3,000 drawings by him exist.
Goethe's Faust is a tragic play in two parts usually known in English as Faust, Part One and Faust, Part Two. Although rarely staged in its entirety, it is the play with the largest audience numbers on German-language stages. Faust is Goethe's magnum opus and considered by many to be the greatest work of German literature.

Places to see in ( Weimar - Germany ) Goethe National Museum
The Goethe-Nationalmuseum is a museum devoted to the German author Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, in the town of Weimar in Germany. It was founded on 8 August 1885 as a result of the will of Goethe's last living heir, his grandson Walther von Goethe, who left the Goethe House to the state.
After the Land of Thuringia was formed, the Goethe-Nationalmuseum, along with several buildings erected during the classical age and the Weimar palaces, became the property of Thuringia. In the 1920s, more Weimar buildings were assigned to the Goethe-Nationalmuseum. In 1953, these buildings became the property of the “Nationale Forschungs- und Gedenkstätten der klassischen deutschen Literatur in Weimar, NFG” (national research establishments and memorials of the German classical literature in Weimar). Since October 1991, the Goethe-Nationalmuseum belongs to the “Klassik Stiftung Weimar” (foundation of Weimar classicism) which succeeded the NFG. It administers the main house and 22 other historical houses and museums throughout and around the Weimar municipal area.
In Goethe's residential building, situated at the Weimar place Frauenplan, visitors can view the rooms in which he and his wife, Christiane Vulpius, lived, at Goethe's study and library, the reception room, the rooms where the art collection was stored, and the garden. The house also contains research facilities, including the “Studiensaal”, an institution used during the age of Goethe which is similar to a congress or conference centre today.
The Goethe-Nationalmuseum consists of Goethe's residential building and the Goethe-Museum. This museum is situated in an extension that was built in 1935 next to the house. The exhibits largely consist of Goethe's collections in the domains of arts and natural science, his library, and about 2,000 drawings he did himself. The collection comprises about 100,000 exhibits and focuses on the period of Weimar Classicism.
