Schloss Rosenau, called in English The Rosenau or Rosenau Palace, is a former castle, converted into a ducal country house, between the towns of Coburg and Rödental, formerly in Saxe-Coburg, now lying in Bavaria, Germany.Schloss Rosenau is perhaps most notable as the birthplace and boyhood home of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, who in 1840 became the consort of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.It should not be confused with another house of the same name at Waldviertel in Austria.

Coburg is a town located on the Itz river in the Upper Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. Long part of one of the Thuringian states of the Wettin line, it joined Bavaria by popular vote only in 1920.
At the top of Bavaria and dating back to at least the 11th century, Coburg sat undiscovered by many late 20th century tourists, surrounded as it was on three sides by the former East Germany. The town’s main attraction, impossible to miss since it overlooks the town, is the 13th century Veste Coburg Castle, one of Germany’s largest and most beautiful. Sometimes called the Franconian Crown, today it’s home to three museums. Reformer Martin Luther, then an outlaw, spent five months here in 1530
On a hill overlooking the town there is a large castle, Veste Coburg, from which you can see an amazing view of the city and surrounding hillside. Housed within there is a museum. It is also the location where Martin Luther stayed while being declared an Outlaw by the Holy Roman Empire.
Schloss Rosenau, the birthplace of Price Albert, Royal Consort to Queen Victoria is just a couple of miles North East of town.

25 Jahre Schlossmuseum Rosenau
Die große Parkanlage und das Schloss Rosenau sind immer einen Besuch wert. Seit 1990 ist das restaurierte Schloss als Museum öffentlich zugänglich. Anlässlich des 25-jährigen Jubiläums wurde am 03. und 04. Oktober 2015 zum Lustwandeln im Schloss und im Park, zu Spiel und Spaß und kulinarischen Genüssen eingeladen. Bei traumhaftem Herbstwetter erlebten viele Besucher erholsame und interessante Stunden.

Die Tour beginnt auf der Veste Coburg. Rund 160 Meter über dem Stadtzentrum thront die Festung, welche zur mittelalterlichen Burganlage ausgebaut wurde. Aufgrund der gewaltigen Mauern und imposanten Türme ist die Veste auch als „Fränkische Krone“ bekannt.
Weiter geht es ins Schloss Ehrenburg. Das Schloss diente früher den Coburger Herzögen als Stadtresidenz. Treten Sie ein und tauchen Sie in eine 450-jährige Geschichte ein.

Das Schloss Callenberg liegt ein paar Kilometer außerhalb von Coburg. Das prachtvolle Schloss inmitten von Natur erinnert auf den ersten Blick an Schloss Neuschwanstein. Aufgrund seines neugotischen Baustils und seiner weit zurückgehenden Geschichte gilt das Schloss Callenberg als besonders bedeutendes Baudenkmal.

Die letzte Etappe der Burgen- und Schlosstour ist das Schloss Rosenau. Umgeben von einer wunderschönen Parkanlage liegt das Schloss in Unterwohlsbach. In diesem malerischen Schloss wurde Prinz Alber von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha geboren. Heute dient das Schloss Rosenau als Museum und zieht Touristen aus ganz Deutschland an.
