Fort-de-France Drone Flight: Fort-de-France is the capital of the Caribbean island of Martinique, a French overseas territory. Its known for colonial architecture, ornate iron balconies, tropical flowers and beaches. La Savane park has a statue of Napoleon Is wife Joséphine, a native of the island. Exhibits at the Martinique Museum of Archaeology and Prehistory focus on the islands history, especially the pre-Columbian period. Nearby is the belle époque Schoelcher Library. A statue of its namesake, abolitionist Victor Schoelcher, fronts the neoclassical Palais de Justice, now the Espace Camille Darsières cultural center. The 17th-century Fort Saint Louis overlooks the city from a rocky outcrop. St. Louis Cathedral was designed by Gustave Eiffel. In a colonial building, the Musee dHistoire et dEthnographie (Museum of History and Ethnography) has period furnishings, jewelry and historical documents. North, forested trails connect Fontaine Didier waterfall to the Absalon thermal spa. Jardin de Balata tropical garden has orchids and treetop walkways. [wikipedia // Google]

This is what a fun day in Fort de France Martinique looks like
Fort de France Martinique. We have never visited any of the French Caribbean islands before so passing through Martinique was a treat for us. Have a look at what we saw, did and ate in Martinique.
Fort de France, the capital of Martinique is a vibrant city with a lot of French influences, this of course, because it is a territory of France. By the way, the currency of Martinique is the euro and their language is French.

Schoelcher
Only after editing this video I googled Schoelcher, and discovered that he was a Nineteenth Century French Abolitionist... I guess that was a good enough reason to name a town in Martinique after him, and here I thought the whole place was called Fort-De-France...

Disclaimer: In no way am I trying to brag about my travels. I realize how fortunate I am to be able to go on these trips with my family and assure you I do not take these opportunities. I do not make these videos to brag but instead to show people how beautiful and incredible the world is. I would not make these videos if I thought that they would offend anyone and i hope you all enjoy this video. All opinions are my own.

[Wikipedia] La Savane
La Savane is a 12½ acre park located on the Fort-de-France Bay in Martinique. It was formerly known as Jardin du Roi (garden of the king) and its first purpose is said to have been to harbour scientific experiments on plants that were new to the colony at that time.
The park has no fence. Its Caribbean gardens face Fort Saint Louis (formerly known as Fort Royal) on the east side. On the west side the park borders the Bibliothèque Schoelcher (or Schoelcher Library), a Romanesque-Byzantine building initially part of the Paris Exposition of 1889, dismantled, shipped to Martinique and re-built in Fort-de-France. La Savane is home to a statue of Josephine Tascher de La Pagerie, born on the island on 23 June 1763, later known as Josephine de Beauharnais, first wife of Napoleon and Empress of France. The Carrara marble statue, created by Vital Dubray, was vandalized and is now missing its head. The park also shelters a tiny colorful market offering exotic items, souvenirs and snacks.

MARTINIQUE WATERFALLS |TRAVEL,v83|
A volcanic island with a stunning mountainous terrain, Martinique features a multitude of majestic waterfalls surrounded by panoramic views that overlook the sapphire ocean, lush valleys, and rugged landscapes. Situated throughout the forests, atop cliffs, and often hidden from the main roads, some of these glistening cascades require visitors to embark on a challenging hike—while others are easier to reach. Every waterfall offers its own character and scenery and they are often considered a vacation highlight for travelers to the area, especially for those who enjoy wandering off the beaten path.
