At the end of the 17th century Emperor Leopold I commissioned the gifted Baroque architect Bernhard Fischer von Erlach to built a palatial hunting lodge for the heir to the throne. On the site of the old imperial château de plaisance a splendid edifice was to arise.
Half a century later under Maria Theresa Schönbrunn Palace was to become the magnificent focus of court life. From that time onwards it played host to the leading statesmen of Europe. Although Austria is now a republic, Schönbrunn has remained a place of political encounter at the highest level.

Încântătoarea orchestră vieneză Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna va străluci din nou pe scena Sălii Palatului in data de 22 decembrie, sub egida “CRACIUN VIENEZ” , cu începere de la ora 19:00. Concertul se anunţă a fi o întâmpinare imperială şi luminoasă a sărbătorilor de iarnă şi, totodată, o incantare pentru melomani.
Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna, orchestra de renume si la nivel international, transpune muzical era imperiala plina de farmec a Vienei, avand totodata o traditie indelungata de lucru alaturi de cantareti de opereta si dansatori de balet.
Fondata in 1997, efectivul instrumental asigura reprezenatiile la Opera din Viena si la festivalurile din Salzburg. In plus, orchestra se distinge prin unicitatea sunetului, prezenta scenica si aspect vestimentar impecabile.
Schoenbrunn Festival Orchestra Vienna este devotata muzicii de curte vieneze, mai ales valsurilor lui Johann Strauss, dar si lucrarilor muzicale ale geniului Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart., Joseph Haydn sau Franz Schubert . Heavenly view inside Schonbrunn Palace Austria. At the end of the seventeenth century Emperor Leopold I commissioned the Baroque architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, who had received his training in Rome, to design an imperial hunting lodge for his son, Crown Prince Joseph, later to become Emperor Joseph I. Replacing the château de plaisance built on this site for the dowager empress Eleonora of Gonzaga in 1642, it was to grow into a palatial imperial residence over the course of the eighteenth century.
The history of Schönbrunn and the buildings that previously stood on this site dates back to the Middle Ages. From the beginning of the fourteenth century, the estate as a whole bore the name of Katterburg and belonged to the manor of the abbey at Klosterneuburg. The estate boasted a corn-mill together with an arable farm and vineyards. Over the following centuries numerous lessees are documented, including a reference in 1548 to one Hermann Bayer, mayor of Vienna, who extended the property, transforming it into a substantial country estate.
In 1569 the estate came into Habsburg possession through Maximilian II, and according to the title deeds included a house, a watermill and stabling as well as a pleasure garden and an orchard. Maximilian was primarily interested in extending the game park, which was principally intended for the breeding of native game and fowl. However, the pheasantry also contained exotic fowl such as peacocks and turkeys.

The Summer Night Concert 2019 of the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel & pianist Yuja Wang as a soloist, at the Schönbrunn baroque gardens (a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site) in Vienna, Austria.

The Summer Night Concert was performed this year on June 20th, 2019. It is an annual open-air event, which has been held since 2008. The previous series was the “Concert for Europe”, which took place from 2004 until 2007. The park of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna/Austria is the magical setting for the concert, which is free of charge for all residents and visitors of the city. The illustrious conductors who have previously led the orchestra at this event are Georges Prêtre, Daniel Barenboim, Franz Welser-Möst, Valery Gergiev, Lorin Maazel, Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, and Semyon Bychkov.
Thanks to its UNESCO World Heritage setting in the Baroque park of Schönbrunn with the palace as a backdrop, the Summer Night Concert adds great visual charm to its superb musical quality. This event is classical music at its very best – made accessible to a broad public. Millions of viewers and listeners in more than 80 countries can follow the concert online, on TV and radio, and up to 100,000 Viennese and their guests assembled on the Great Parterre at the heart of Schönbrunn Park for the event.
Central to the programme of the Vienna Philharmonic’s 2019 Summer Night Concert was a musical history of the United States of America: the works that were heard this year were composed in or for the USA, while also constituting links with the Viennese musical tradition.
