Schönbrunn Palace - Schloß Schönbrunn ???????? Vienna Tourist Guide Travel & Discover
At the end of the 17th century Emperor Leopold I commissioned the gifted Baroque architect Bernhard Fischer von Erlach to built a palatial hunting lodge for the heir to the throne. On the site of the old imperial château de plaisance a splendid edifice was to arise.
Half a century later under Maria Theresa Schönbrunn Palace was to become the magnificent focus of court life. From that time onwards it played host to the leading statesmen of Europe. Although Austria is now a republic, Schönbrunn has remained a place of political encounter at the highest level.
The magnificent architecture and the exquisite décor of its state rooms marks Schönbrunn out as a cultural treasure and tourist attraction of the first order. (from schoenbrunn.at)

Vienna Austria | Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens
This beautiful UNESCO-listed palace, complete with huge gardens, ornate fountains, wide green lawns and walking paths, is a lovely destination for nature lovers and history buffs alike. But besides simply strolling the grounds, you can take part in a medley of historic and cultural activities here. In order to truly appreciate the property, you should know a little more about it. The name #Schonbrunn means “beautiful spring” in German, and refers to the artesian well that once served the royalty living here. While these days you won’t be drinking from the spring, you can still appreciate the serene beauty of this unique destination and easily imagine how marvellous it was during its heyday.
The history of Schonbrunn goes all the way back to the 16th century, when the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II bought the land and the mansion on it, and converted it into a hunting ground stocked with a bestiary of animals and exotic birds. The area was used as the royal hunting grounds for about 100 years, and the royal family lived in the mansion when they visited. It wasn’t until the mid-17th century that this original building was added to and Schonbrunn started to take the shape and size it has today. Finally, it was Maria Theresa who drastically remodelled the palace after receiving it as a wedding gift in 1740. Later, Franz I ordered the facade to be redecorated in a neoclassical style, which is what we see today. Over the years, Schonbrunn has seen more than its fair share of historical events. Emperor Franz Josef was born and also died here. After World War I, the palace officially became a museum. But that didn’t mean it was obsolete. Allied forces were stationed here during World War II, and throughout the 20th century Schonbrunn was the site of numerous important political meetings, including one between Kennedy and Khrushchev in 1961. The palace and the grounds received UNESCO status in 1996, and both remain impeccably looked after. But the history and design of the building are only part of the allure that make Schonbrunn a must-see sight in Vienna. It also has a rich cultural calendar throughout the year. Today, Schonbrunn is a one of the centerpieces of Austrian history and culture. To start with, you’ll certainly want to take one of the guided tours, which is the best way to get to know the history of the palace and all the different things to do here. It’s also the only way to get inside to see the opulence of the palace interiors. But even beyond the different areas of the palace, each of which has its own special connection to history, there are numerous activities to take part in and other things to see. Many festivals and special events take place at Schonbrunn throughout the year, from classical music concerts to art exhibitions and even things like the Vienna Citrus Festival.......

Schönbrunn Palace Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Schönbrunn Palace in Austria.
In Austria in 1569, under Emperor Maximilian the Second, the Habsburg Dynasty acquired the former Maierhof as a hunting estate and Emperor Franz Joseph permitted the young architect, Fischer von Erlach, to design a new royal residence, the Schonbrunn Palace. More than 1700 beautifully-maintained rooms afforded the large Imperial family, and the whole royal entourage, much freedom of movement and the magnificent interior decor of the Palace is one of the most lavish of its time. The Palace Grounds contain the outstanding Neptun-Fountain and, at the highest point, the Gloriette, from which the entire palace grounds are visible as well as the charming Schonbrunn Zoo, the oldest animal enclosure in the world.

VIENNA - Schonbrunn Palace in 4K
The Schonbrunn Palace was the summer residence of the Habsburgs imperial family. In this video I visit 40 of the 1440 rooms (Grand Tour 16 euro ), inside is not allowed to film and take pictures but I was able to steal some footage with a Osmo Pocket DJI. Unfortunately the quality is poor since is the first time I use this camera.
Click here 2:45 to go directly to the imperial rooms.
For the imperial gardens and external scenes I used a Sony RX10M3. All in 4K.

Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, Vienna Austria
The spectacular Schönbrunn Palace (Schloss Schönbrunn) was built in the early 18th century (between 1696 and 1730) in a beautiful park-like setting and remains one of Austria's leading attractions. Previously, in 1569 Emperor Maximilian II acquired a small summer palace in a converted mill on this site. Emperor Leopold I commissioned an Imperial palace on the site of what was then known as the Palace of Klatterburg. He hoped it would rival the Palace of Versailles. Baroque Schönbrunn Palace with its 1,441 rooms and apartments was built between 1696 and 1730, and soon after converted into a residence for Maria Theresa, the only female Habsburg ruler. Further alterations took place between 1816 and 1819, and following severe damage in WWII, reconstruction was completed in 1952.

Heavenly view inside Schonbrunn Palace Austria
Heavenly view inside Schonbrunn Palace Austria. At the end of the seventeenth century Emperor Leopold I commissioned the Baroque architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, who had received his training in Rome, to design an imperial hunting lodge for his son, Crown Prince Joseph, later to become Emperor Joseph I. Replacing the château de plaisance built on this site for the dowager empress Eleonora of Gonzaga in 1642, it was to grow into a palatial imperial residence over the course of the eighteenth century.
The history of Schönbrunn and the buildings that previously stood on this site dates back to the Middle Ages. From the beginning of the fourteenth century, the estate as a whole bore the name of Katterburg and belonged to the manor of the abbey at Klosterneuburg. The estate boasted a corn-mill together with an arable farm and vineyards. Over the following centuries numerous lessees are documented, including a reference in 1548 to one Hermann Bayer, mayor of Vienna, who extended the property, transforming it into a substantial country estate.
In 1569 the estate came into Habsburg possession through Maximilian II, and according to the title deeds included a house, a watermill and stabling as well as a pleasure garden and an orchard. Maximilian was primarily interested in extending the game park, which was principally intended for the breeding of native game and fowl. However, the pheasantry also contained exotic fowl such as peacocks and turkeys.

Schönbrunn Palace - Imperial Carriage Museum in 4K, Austria
