1-day trip (24 hours) visiting the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava.
In one day you can visit the Old Town Hall, Primate's Palace, Michael's Gate, Grassalkovich Palace, the Blue Church, Bratislava Castle, St. Martin's Cathedral, the UFO Tower.
Wandering around the city centre you'll find many funny bronze statues. The most famous one is the statue of Cumil (the literal translation is The watcher), but there are many others around like the Napolean Soldier, Schone Naci and Paparazzi (it's not located in the city center anymore, now it can be found in the UFO restaurant).

Bratislava, Slovakia: We’ve arrived in Bratislava. Let’s go and check in to the hostel. We’re in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia. Bratislava is known for its very vibrant café culture and its many statues. So we’re going to start the day by trying to find as many statues as we can. This is one of the more practical statues. It also works as a post box. This guy makes me feel so short. Here is a paparazzi statue. We’re walking around the old town and Sophia just walked pass the peeping Tom statue. He’s lying on the ground, looking up girls skirts. I think it’s kind of funny. There are so many quirky, fun statues in this part of town. This is a statue of Schone Naci. He was a local here. He used to walk around town handing out flowers, singing songs; wearing a top hat. He was a bit eccentric about it. You might recognize this guy here as Napoleon. Here’s another statue. I’m starting to feel like there are more statues than people here. It’s been really fun to walk around the old town and check out all the quirky statues. It’s like a fun game to walk around the town and see if you can find them all.
Now we’re going to head up to the Bratislava Castle. Apparently it’s a great view over the city. We walked up to the Bratislava castle and it’s the icon of Bratislava and you can get a great view over the city. Although it looks really new, it’s been here since 907. They just recently renovated it. This has to be one of the coolest churches I’ve ever seen. It’s bright blue. It looks like a fairy tale church. Apparently it’s blue inside as well. We’ve had a great day here in Bratislava. There are so many quirky details about the city. You know, from all those statues to the narrowest building in central Europe. And that blue church is so funny. They also have a really strong café culture, so we ordered two coffees. We’re going to sit here, relax and tomorrow, off to Vienna.

Schöner Náci (Ignác Lamár) - nicest man of the 1900
Schöner Náci was the son of a shoemaker and grandson of a famous clown, also Ignác Lamár, and was inspired by the latter's example to bring happiness to the streets of the city. He walked around the Old Town and in particular the stretch from Michael's Gate to the river, in top hat and tails, greeting women with the words, I kiss your hand in German, Hungarian and Slovak. He received free food from several of the city's cafes, and supported himself with occasional cleaning work.

Day 5 was our last day in Bratislava and Slovakia, so we had to make the most of it! It was time to properly explore the Old Town. We ate another awesome breakfast at Urban House then went on a statue scavenger hunt. Taking pictures with ALL of Bratislava’s famous statues. We also happened to be here for the Euro2016 games, so the rest of the day we bar-hopped, discovering the best places to grab a beer and watch the games. We ended our night at Slovak Pub for some delicious and authentic Slovak food! Here’s our Day 5 Snapchat.

Bratislava, Treni, Stazioni, Tram Tatra e Skoda, la città
Prima parte del viaggio a Bratislava e, in treno, a Vienna, nell' ottobre 2015. Le due capitali sul Danubio. In questa prima parte la città di Bratislava, la piccola e bella capitale della Slovacchia. Scontato volo low cost Ryanair da Orio, l' aeroporto della minuscola Bergamo, allo Stefanik di Bratislava, città che fu la Pressburg tedesca e la Pozsony ungherese. Sempre uno spettacolo il volo sopra le Alpi. La base in città è lo strategico per ferrovipatici Mercure Centrum Hotel, con la stazione principale dei treni, Hlavna Stanica ... a vista, con la bella giostra dei tram, l' anello di ritorno del capolinea dei tram, qui detti Elektricka. Grandi lavori in atto ai sedimi tranviari cittadini e quindi linee tram stravolte nei percorsi o sospese, ma tanti, tanti i tram sempre in circolazione, e tanti i filobus, qui detti Trolejbus. Tutti gli spostamenti, dunque, in tram, sia Tatra che Skoda. La città storica è interamente pedonale. Dalla collina, il Castello, Hrad, domina su tutto. Obchodna Ulica, tram e negozi. Cena al molto slovacco Prasna Basta, con Bryndzove Halusky, Pirohy, Cervené e Pivo, va da sé. Hlavné Namestie, la Piazza principale, a due passi. Sparse per il centro, simpatiche e buffe statue di bronzo: Schone Naci, il bell' Ignazio e naturalmente Cumil, il guardone, che si affaccia da un tombino. Transitano i più classici dei tram Skoda, i vecchiotti e indistruttibili T3. Molto più diffusi, i ringiovaniti Tram Tatra K2S. Visito la stazione Hlavna Stanica, con transiti e movimenti: Ceske Drahy. In treno. Os per Nové Zamky, vado alla stazione di Vinohrady. Transitano locomotive class 242, CER, class 230, complessi 671. Arriva e prendo treno con loco 361 per la stazione principale. Dove trovo le ex E 630 delle FNM. Rosso totale per la OBB, ferrovie austriache, diesel 2016, col treno per Wien. Loco Skoda class 380, tipo 190E, con l' EC Railjet Petrov per Budapest. Talent 643 Regiojet, cargo clss 363. Complessi class 671. le class 240, Laminatka.
Visito Bratislava, piccolo gioiello sul Danubio, Dunaj in slovacco.
Michalska Brana, la Porta di S. Michele, il Novy Most, il ponte sul Danubio del tempo del regime sovietico, con l' inconfondibile UFO, il ristorante circolare in cima. Slovensky Rozhlas, la piramide rovesciata della radio slovacca. Il Castello, il Hrad. Giriamo la città coi caratteristici Presporacik, old bus, dei mini bus carrozzati old time. Poi il Danubio. l' Eurovea e i ponti, con lo Stary Most, che stan finendo di ricostruire, il ponte coi binari tranviari che vanno a Petrzalka. Più oltre, il bell' Apollo Most. Una visita al gioiellino che è la Chiesa Blu, Modry Kostolik, che va oltre il Liberty. Namestie SNP, lo splendido liberty delle Poste centrali e ... di nuovo in stazione, si parte in treno per Wien, la splendida Vienna (nella prossima puntata).
