Ekaterinburg Russia - Екатеринбург Россия .: www.Ekaterinburg.TK :.
History:
Ekaterinburg is 284 years old. Originally established by the Russian Emperor, Peter the Great, as a major industrial and administrative centre and it has remained so for nearly three centuries.
The glory of the foundation of Ekaterinburg is shared by two fledglings of Peter's nest - Captain Vasilij Tatishchev who determined the location of the plant/fortress, and the engineer and general of artillery, William de Gennin, who later put the plant into operation. On November 7 (18), 1723 two iron-forging hammers were put into operation in the hammer-forging shop of the plant. This event was registered as the official date of birth of the town named after the Saint Martyr Catherine (Ekaterina in Russian), the patroness of mining crafts, and after the reigning empress who had been baptized Catherine by the Russian Orthodox Church.
At the same time, Ekaterinburg was turning into a centre of non-mining industries and banking business. The discovery of Siberian gold brought about a fabulous wealth to the city and stimulated its growth. For a long time the mining of this gold was the monopoly of the Ekaterinburg merchants - the Ryazanovs, Rastorguyevs, Balandins, and others.
Situated on the border between Europe and Asia the town also played an important mediating role in trade. Initially, one part of the fortress, and then of the town, was called a Trade part. In 1843 the State Commercial Bank opened its branch office in Ekaterinburg; the Siberian, the Volga-Kama, and the City Community Banks began operating here early in the XXth century.
Despite its provincial character, the town was a major cultural center. It had a mining school, a mining research society, and a mining museum. 1843 was the year of the establishment of the town's first theatre company, for which, four years later, the citizens constructed a theatre building on Glavny Prospect (Main Street). In 1870, the Ural Society of Science Enthusiasts was established whose members published works about the Ural region and organized expeditions. The national crisis caused by World War I, the February revolution and the October upheaval radically changed the fate of the town. On October 26, 1917 Soviet Power was proclaimed in Ekaterinburg.
Before the civil war Ekaterinburg became a regional centre, and in 1923 it was granted it's rights, and in 1923 it was granted the rights of the administrative centre of the huge, newly established Ural region.
In 1924 the name of Ekaterinburg disappeared from the map of the country. As the totalitarian regime grew stronger it gave the names of its leaders to all places, big and small. Thus, Ekaterinburg was renamed Sverdlovsk and in 1934 it became the main city of the region bearing the same name.
Throughout the 1920s - 1930s Ekaterinburg preserved its significance as an industrial and cultural centre of the Urals. The construction of huge plants brought about a threefold increase in its population. The Sverdlovsk builders constructed dozens of industrial buildings, blocks of flats, schools, shops and hospitals. In 1925 the city got its first water supply line and first bus routes. In 1929 the first tram appeared on its streets and a broadcasting station was put into operation. High-rise buildings became the sign of the time.
In 1940, the city had 12 institutions of higher learning, 30 technical schools, 100 secondary schools, 166 libraries, 7 museums, and 5 theatres.
Sverdlovsk was turning into a city of big science. In 1932 the USSR Academy of Sciences opened its branch here. During the years of World War II the city was turned into a powerful arsenal of military equipment and armaments. The leading enterprises of the city were converted to military production. Sverdlovsk gave refuge to the People's Commissariat of Nonferrous Metallurgy, the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the Air-Force Academy, the Central Theatre of Soviet Army, the famous Moscow MHAT theatre, and the unique collections of the Hermitage.

Wu Kingdom HelV Relics Museum Implementation
This is a clip while implementing in place and first shows of the project.
Visitors are immersed in a 15-minute story about the rise of the Kingdom of Wu during the Spring and Autumn Period between 514–496 BC. We created a unique visual style as a mix of cinematic martial arts scenes shot in Shanghai combined with paint-style animations.
The linear storytelling is enhanced with interactive elements that reinforce the visitors’ feeling of being transported back in time, away to king HelV’s coming into power, his fight for hegemony, the victory at the battle of Boju and other great legends of that period.

IARP's Books for Mosul Campaign
Once a major center of learning in the Middle East, the library at the University of Mosul was destroyed by ISIS. The militants methodically burned nearly all of the one million books, manuscripts, and historic maps. One of the finest libraries in the Middle East was burned to the ground.
The Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project held a book drive to help restore the University of Mosul Library as a credible resource center at one of the Middle East’s most important universities.

Hundreds Of Crows Just Bombed Russian President With Rocks. Why Birds Are So Angry With Him?
It might sound like something from Alfred Hitchcock Birds movie but what crows just did in Russia is far exceeded Alfred Hitchcock wildest dreams. And it is so incredible that you won't sleep tonight after seeing it. We all knew that crows are smart but we never knew they can organize into the flying army bombers to vanquish their enemies. Russia city of Yekaterinburg is Siberia. This is Russian Presidential center. Yes, Siberia is not only wilderness but well developed big cities like this one. People of Yekaterinburg gathered to Celebrate 1 Year of opening of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin center. It's like Ronald Reagan or George Bush library but much grander. Boris Yeltsin ruled Russia for 10 years and he looked very much like Donald Trump. Tall, Big, Loud, With Same Hair Style. When hundreds of people gathered to celebrate one year of Russian President Boris Yeltsin center, museum and skyscraper opening. Hundreds of crows nearly each one holding a rock showed up in the sky. They started to bombard Yeltsin center with rocks. Their first attack was unsuccessful, rocks landed on the roof of the building cracking some glass but not a single thick skyscraper grade glass was penetrated. Nonetheless, all attendees were evacuated from the building to the yard, fearing massive glass failure. In a few minters crows returned with more rocks and on higher speed, higher altitude and different throwing angle of bombardment and this time they managed to penetrate several thick panels of glass. Security guards started to fire at crows and crows left. You should see the video of the second wave of crow attack on Russian internet. Unfortunately, Kryan channel does not have copyrights to show it here. For those of who constantly writing comments that Kryan channel using music or video without permission: Kryan channel has a written copyright agreement with The Associated Press and several major channels - All American but not Russian. But how Russian President offended crows to invoke their wrath on 1 year anniversary of his center opening? It turns out that exactly on the day of the attack September 27, 1994 or 23 years ago Russian President called Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and told him that Moscow is overrun by crows and it's time to exterminate those rats with wings. Interesting, that following October crow extermination teams did not find much crows in Moscow because they all suddenly left the capital after the very first crows were exterminated. Scientists know that crows can communicate, can live up to 30 years, have good memory and can remember faces and things for months but for 23 years? And how did they organize into the bomber army and knew who was responsible for the extermination order. That's something for you to think about this night.

Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall by Zaha Hadid Architects
Zaha Hadid Architects have been selected by the jury of the international design competition to build the new Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The city’s acclaimed Ural Philharmonic Orchestra has performed in more than 20 countries and collaborates with renowned artists worldwide.
Echoing the physical aspects of sound waves, the design of the new Philharmonic Concert Hall is based on the properties of musical sound resonance creating wave vibrations in a continuous smooth surface. The design re-interprets these physical acoustic properties to define spaces for the auditoria that are suspended within the canopy, appearing to float above the new civic plaza that is both the lobby of the Philharmonic Concert Hall and an enclosed urban square.
Providing a 1,600-seat Concert Hall and a 400-seat Chamber Music Hall of the highest acoustic standards, these new auditoria are nestled within the surface deformations of the suspended canopy; liberating the lobbies from obstructions to open this space as a vibrant new gathering place for the local community. The lobby serves not only as an introduction to the world of symphony music, but also as a welcoming public plaza for all members of its local community. Source by Zaha Hadid Architects. Info project

Philosophical Practice at South Ural State University
This is the Department of Philosophy, South Ural State University.
We are almost in the middle, metaphorically speaking in the heart of Russia.
Hi! My name is Regina Penner. And I am the associate professor here.
We live in and work at very interesting place. South Ural is a multinational region. Russians, Tatars, Bashkirs, Germans, Kazakhs and other people created a unique multicultural space. Moreover, around thousand of students from China, Iran, India, and Africa are studying in our university. They speak not just Russian, but also English, Arabic, Chinese and many other languages.
The main question for us is how to teach people with different backgrounds and even different languages.
That is why me and my colleagues from the Department started to implement the methods and formats of philosophical practice in real educational process.
We do not just teach our students, we try to speak the same language with them. In dialogue with them we show, how it is to reflect on yourself and on the world around you, why it is important to care for the self in the contemporary world.
The challenge we are addressing is not just our challenge. Today folk cannot understand each other. Philosophical practice has real instruments to overcome this challenge.
Buy! And care for yourself!

Bonfire of knowledge: Inside city library and university destroyed by IS | Gray Water
Iraqi government forces have pushed Islamic State (Isis/Daesh) fighters out of east Mosul and are poised to attack the west. The jihadists destroyed or defaced anything they considered non-Islamic, and the battle to recapture the city caused further destruction in the metropolis that was once a trade hub and centre for higher learning. US-led airstrikes have demolished scores of buildings and left huge craters that destroyed roads. The atrium of the pyramid-shaped five-star Nineveh International Hotel is filled with debris. Rooms are littered with bullet casings, food containers, cigarette butts and a few disposable syringes. Mosul University was once one of the finest education institutions in the Middle East. Isis sold the university's ancient manuscripts and imposed its own form of education, banning philosophy books. When the army arrived, the jihadists burned down many of its buildings, leaving piles of ashes. A few pages of scientific textbooks were scattered on floors cluttered with debris. Upstairs in the cafeteria were blackened tables and chairs, below huge holes from airstrikes. Islamic State imposed a radical version of Islam in Mosul after establishing the country's second biggest city as its de facto capital: banning cigarettes, televisions and radios, and forcing men to grow beards and women to cover from head to toe. When Islamic State militants swept into Mosul in 2014, they declared the local billiards hall un-Islamic. One restaurant owner said he was dragged away to a Daesh jail and tortured for four months after militants accused him of stealing. They ripped my toenails off with pliers, he told Reuters. The torturers may be gone, but there are new challenges. He and other restaurant owners have no portable water and scarce electricity, and hardly any customers. 750,000 people are still in the city's west, many of them residents of outlying villages that Isis fighters led on forced marches up the Tigris River valley as they lost ground there. Narrow, winding streets are also expected to pose a particular problem as Iraqi troops won't be able to largely fight from inside their vehicles like they did in the city's east. After US-led coalition airstrikes partially destroyed all five bridges spanning the Tigris, the number of car bombs targeting the troops decreased and they became less sophisticated. Iraqi troops began seeing fewer of the heavily armoured car bombs that coalition officials likened to vehicles out of the Mad Max movie franchise. Isis fighters also began running out of supplies.

Alexei Nikolaevich, Tsarevich of Russia
Alexei Nikolaevich of the House of Romanov, was the Tsesarevich and heir apparent to the throne of the Russian Empire. He was the youngest child and only son of Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. He was born with hemophilia; his mother's reliance on the starets Grigori Rasputin to treat the disease helped bring about the end of the Romanov dynasty. After the February Revolution of 1917, he and his family were sent into internal exile in Tobolsk, Siberia. He was murdered alongside his parents, four sisters, and three retainers during the Russian Civil War by order of the Bolshevik government, though rumors that he had survived persisted until the 2007 discovery of his and one of his sisters' remains. The family was formally interred on 17 July 1998—the eightieth anniversary of the murder—and were canonized as passion bearers by the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
