The Scots’ Church | Melbourne, Australia
[FILMED ON July 30, 2017] The Scots’ Church is a Presbyterian church in Melbourne located on Collins Street. Having a motto “In God We Trust”, The Scots’ Church has become a place of worship since 1835. It was designed by the architects from the leading firm in Melbourne at the time who also designed Melbourne Town Hall, Wesley Church, the State Library and Royal Exhibition Building. The Scots’ Church was constructed from Barrabool stone with dressings in New Zealand Kakanui stone and was the highest building in Melbourne at the time.
The interior houses an impressive artwork collection of stained glass windows including the Last Supper - the second largest window in the church, the Good Samaritan - the oldest aisle window and magnificent windows depicting eight episodes from the Gospels. Located above the lectern is the late Australian prime minister Sir Robert Menzies’ flag and the crest of the Order of the Thistle. Additionally, on the North Transept is the main organ of four keyboards and 68 speaking stops which was installed by Rieger Orgelbau, Schwarzach, Austria

I went to Melbourne for a few weeks in November to explore the city. During the same time it was also Melbourne Cup, one of the biggest and most popular horse racing events in the world. For the most part I try NOT to focus on tourism, rather I try and introduce things I myself would like to know before arriving in a new city. For example topics like transportation and how to take it, safety of the city, laws relating to alcohol and drugs, knowing what types of shops or supermarkets they have, if they have a chain pharmacy and so on. I classify what I do as more an introducing to lifestyle and culture of a city, rather than just travel and tourism ;)
Love YouTube, but you should really also check out my web page! Lots more information, links, maps, tips and other videos that you might like, not to mention everything is neatly arranged under country categories too! Easy Peasy!

St Michael’s Uniting Church | Melbourne, Australia
[FILMED ON July 30, 2017] St Michael’s is one of the church that is classified by the National Trust of Australia in the heart of the city. It was the focal point for Congregationalism in Victoria in 1977 and was originally called the Collins Street Independent Church. The church was designed by leading architects at the time, Joseph Reed, who also designed Wesley Church, Melbourne Town Hall, Scots Church, Royal Exhibition Building and the State Library.
The external design of the building was constructed using multi-coloured Hawthorn bricks. It is described as Lombardic style with Romanesque features. Meanwhile, the interior of the church was strongly influenced by the minister at the time, Reverend Henderson’s. It was designed in accordance with the principles of the Congregationalist Church, to be such that the preacher would be clearly audible and visible to all members of the congregation.

Welsh Church | Melbourne, Australia
[FILMED ON July 29, 2017] Situated near the heart of Melbourne, The Welsh Church is one of the two Welsh Churches still active in Victoria. It was designed by Melbourne architects Crouch & Wilson. The site contains a manse, a chapel, two halls and a modern office building. Interesting fact to note that in 1896, the Queen Victoria Hospital was established by Dr Constance Stone in this church hall. This was the first women’s hospital in Victoria operated by women.
