The SCOTT MILLS BRIDGE - BMM 3
It's the third Episode of Dave & JB's Max Regen! - It's just two ordinary blokes, taking on an electric road trip to the British Motor Museum, so our EV Evangelist JB, can try to persuade our Petrol Head, Dave, that Electric is the future...
The saga, I mean the trip continues, boys have stopped for lunch at Fleet Services, and having stuffed their faces with junk food, its off to see what else they can find...
Once they are back on the road we discuss many things including electric car etiquette!
Will they ever make it to their destination before the batteries go flat?
How much service station coffee can two people drink?
Why are the Toilets always at the far end of the service station?
...and can JB Persuade Dave that EV's are any good?
All these questions, and more will hopefully will be answered right here on Max Regen!

Battle Ready: The Military’s Environmental Legacy in the Northwest
Seventy-five years ago, America was drawn into World War II and the Pacific Northwest answered the call with lumber, hydroelectricity, even a secret plutonium factory to arm atomic bombs. Soldiers trained here. Cities were transformed by shipyards and airplane assembly lines. Victory was the priority and little thought went toward the environmental toll these efforts would take. This special program explores the hidden history of the military, the Northwest and the environment. The series also looks at the military’s presence in the Northwest today, including its impact on wildlife that depend on the same habitats where soldiers, sailors and pilots train for war.
Battle Ready is an EarthFix and KCTS 9 Digital Studios production built in collaboration with partner stations Oregon Public Broadcasting, Idaho Public Television, KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio, Northwest Public Radio and Television and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
A tribute to the 29 men who died November 10, 1975, aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.
----
Announcer (0:04): An air and sea search is continuing for possible survivors of the Edmund Fitzgerald, a 729 foot ore carrier, which apparently broke apart and sunk last night on Lake Superior. The ship and its 29-man crew vanished in a storm with 80 mile-an-hour winds and wave heights up to 25 feet. All that has been found is an oil slick and some debris.
--
song begins at 0:17
--
Radio Transmission (3:11): We last had contact with 'em, the mate had talked to him ... at about 10 minutes after 7, 19:10, and he said he was going along fine and no problem.
--
Radio Transmission (3:21): But it looks from the information that we have that it's, uh, fairly certain that the, uh, Fitzgerald went down.
--
Radio Transmission (4:04): Uh, no, I didn't have him, uh, visually, I had him on radar; he was, uh, exactly 10 miles ahead of us. I asked him how he was making out with his problems and he said he was holding his own, but I, uh, lost contact after that.
----
Lyrics:
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
of the big lake they called Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
when the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty,
that big ship and true was a bone to be chewed
when the Gales of November came early
The ship was the pride of the American side
coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
with a crew and good captain well seasoned,
concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
when they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship's bell rang,
could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?
The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
and a wave broke over the railing
And ev'ry man knew, as the captain did too
'twas the witch of November come stealin'
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
when the Gales of November came slashin'
When afternoon came it was freezin' rain
in the face of a hurricane west wind
When suppertime came the old cook came on deck sayin'
Fellas, it's too rough t'feed ya
At seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in; he said,
Fellas, it's bin good t'know ya!
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
and the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when 'is lights went outta sight
came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Does any one know where the love of God goes
when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
if they'd put fifteen more miles behind 'er
They might have split up or they might have capsized;
they may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
of the wives and the sons and the daughters
Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
in the rooms of her ice-water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams;
the islands and bays are for sportsmen
And farther below Lake Ontario
takes in what Lake Erie can send her,
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
with the Gales of November remembered
In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
in the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral
The church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times
for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
when the gales of November come early

This much-loved story follows a group of animal friends in the English countryside as they pursue adventure ... and as adventure pursues them! The chief characters - Mole, Rat, and Toad - generally lead upbeat and happy lives, but their tales are leavened with moments of terror, homesickness, awe, madcap antics, and derring-do.
Although classed as children's literature, The Wind in the Willows holds a gentle fascination for adults too. The vocabulary is decidedly not Dick and Jane, and a reader with a love of words will find new ones to treasure, even if well-equipped for the journey. Parents will appreciate the themes of loyalty, manners, self-restraint, and comradeship which are evident throughout the book. When the characters err, they are prompt to acknowlege it, and so a reading of this book can model good behavior to children, who will otherwise be enchanted with the many ways in which the lives of these bucolic characters differ from modern life.
This book was so successful that it enabled the author to retire from banking and take up a country life somewhat like that of his creations. It has been adapted for screen, stage, and even a ride at the original Disneyland.

DUBLINERS by James Joyce - FULL Audio Book | Greatest Audio Books
DUBLINERS by James Joyce - FULL Audio Book | Greatest Audio Books - Dubliners is a collection of 15 short stories by James Joyce, first published in 1914. They form a naturalistic depiction of Irish middle class life in and around Dublin in the early years of the 20th century. The stories were written when Irish nationalism was at its peak and a search for a national identity and purpose was raging; at a crossroads of history and culture, Ireland was jolted by various converging ideas and influences. They centre on Joyce's idea of an epiphany: a moment where a character experiences self-understanding or illumination. Many of the characters in Dubliners later appear in minor roles in Joyce's novel Ulysses. The initial stories in the collection are narrated by child protagonists, and as the stories continue, they deal with the lives and concerns of progressively older people. This is in line with Joyce's tripartite division of the collection into childhood, adolescence, and maturity. (Summary from Wikipedia)
