Best of Odense
We stayed in Odense for one day and had time for almost every popular sight in this lovely city. In this video we present the best of Odense if you don't have that much time but still want to explore the city. It is easy to stroll around everywhere in the car-free inner city and you find plenty of cafées and restaurants.
Odense is also a city with so much history, beautiful parks and buildings. And, it is the birthplace to the world famous author Hans Christian Andersen. Top tourist attractions to see in Odense are among others Hans Christian Andersens Childhood Home, Hans Christian Andersen Museum but also Odense City Hall, Montergarden and Odense Cathedral - Sct. Knuds Church.
Odense is a perfect stay on a trip in Denmark because of its location. It is close to most other attractions in Denmark. If you want more tips on things to do in Denmark, especially if you have kids, please watch our videos from Legoland: and Lalanida Billund:
COPENHAGEN: EXPLORING the magnificent statues of the CATHEDRAL (DENMARK)
SUBSCRIBE: - Copenhagen, the Church of Our Lady (Danish: Vor Frue Kirke): Let's go visit the magnificent 'The Church of Our Lady' (Danish: Vor Frue Kirke) Cathedral in Copenhagen, Denmark, located next to the main building of the University of Copenhagen. The present day version of the church was designed by the architect Christian Frederik Hansen in the neoclassical style and was completed in 1829. The pediment is decorated with bronzes of Jesus Christ and the Apostles. The interior is likewise decorated with the twelve apostles (one in front of each of the piers of the central nave), the Risen Christ displaying the wounds in his body (in a niche above the altar) and in front of the altar the baptismal fount in the form of an angel holding a large scallop shell, all in Italian carrara marble. All of these sculptures were completed in Rome by the famous Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen.
Denmark is a Scandinavian country comprising the Jutland Peninsula and numerous islands. It's linked to nearby Sweden via the Öresund bridge. Copenhagen, its capital, is home to royal palaces and colorful Nyhavn harbor, plus the Tivoli amusement park and the iconic “Little Mermaid” statue. Odense is writer Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown, with a medieval core of cobbled streets and half-timbered houses.

Noaptea de Sankt Hans, solstițiul de vară, la Copenhaga
Noaptea de Sankt Hans, solstițiul de vară, la Copenhaga
It has been celebrated since the times of the Vikings[citation needed] by visiting healing water wells and making a large bonfire to ward away evil spirits. Today the water well tradition is gone. Bonfires on the beach, speeches, picnics and songs are traditional, although bonfires are built in many other places where beaches may not be close by (i.e. on the shores of lakes and other waterways, parks, etc.) In the 1920s a tradition of putting a witch made of straw and cloth (probably made by the elder women of the family[citation needed]) on the bonfire emerged as a remembrance[citation needed] of the church's[citation needed] witch burnings from 1540 to 1693. This burning sends the witch away to Bloksbjerg, the Brocken mountain in the Harz region of Germany where the great witch gathering was thought to be held on this day. Some Danes regard the relatively new symbolic witch burning as inappropriate
