Discovering the caves swimming in Formentera
Best way to discover Formentera and its hidden caves by sailing a llaüt (typical Mediterranean wooden boat). Feel the nature while you swim naked or not ;)

GREECE
The Greeks have long had an intimate relationship with the sea and it continues today. With more than 240 inhabited islands and a significant coastline, you’ll find a wide variety of diving that includes wall, wreck, cavern and reef. Most of the PADI Dive Centers and Resorts are scattered throughout locations off the Aegean and Ionian Seas, both on the islands and on the mainland. On just about any dive, there’s a chance you'll come across some artifacts. You get to observe (not touch) and must report your finds. There is absolutely no taking. It’s like an impromptu archeological adventure every time you slip into the water. And, like most of the countries with a lengthy seafaring history, wrecks tend to dominate the scene. There's also considerable life in the seas, particularly if you slow down and think small. On land, the blue roofs and whitewashed buildings that form the skyline of almost every seaside village make this part of the world unmistakably breathtaking. No matter where you go, you’ll leave with a much better understanding of local Greek mythology and the rich history that defines this unique corner of the world.
EGYPT
The Red Sea is home to amazing Reefs with a teeming marine life, pelagic fishes, Reef Sharks, Dolphins and even the very rare Dugong. The Red Sea can be divided into two parts:
The North Red Sea with the resort destinations such as Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and the more laidback Dahab (which is the most popular part). Sharm El Sheikh offers excellent wreck diving and even maybe the best wreck dive in the world, the Thistlegorm Wreck! Not far from there is the Ras Mohammed National Park with great wall diving and amazing coral formations. The second biggest diving destination in Egypt is Hurghada. It offers good conditions to learn scuba diving as well as great wreck diving with 4 beautiful wrecks to explore in Abu Nuhas Reef. Dahab located a bit more North has a more chilled out atmosphere and is famous worldwide for the Dahab Blue Hole.
TANZANIA
True dive enthusiasts are geography experts at heart. That’s because the world’s best scuba diving locations sometimes read like a who’s who of exotic global locations. Tanzania is one of those places; the imagination takes over when destinations like Zanzibar and Dar-es-Salaam are mentioned. As one of the longest continually inhabited places on Earth, Tanzania is a land of extremes, from the Serengeti to the sea. It boasts the highest (Mt. Kilimanjaro) and lowest (Lake Tanganyika) points on the African continent, but, more importantly for scuba divers, it’s bounded on all sides by water: the Indian Ocean to the east, and the great rift valley lakes of Africa– Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika and Malawi – to the northwest, west and southwest. With shore diving, boat diving, liveaboard opportunities and lake diving, there’s a great deal here to keep adventurous divers happy.
SPAIN
Balearic Islands
- Formentera- With its unspoilt natural beaches, Formentera is the wildest island of the Balearic group, where the sand and the sea blend in a unique way to create spectacular colours. If you are looking for a natural experience during your stay, this island is definitely for you.
- Mallorca - The island of Mallorca is blessed with a wide variety of types of beach, from rugged, hard-to-reach calas to wide sandy stretches boasting a host of facilities. This season, 6o of the island’s beaches are flying the Blue Flag – the Foundation for Environmental Education’s award for quality of water, environmental management, safety and services.
- Menorca - According to many Spaniards, Menorca is the most authentic of the Balearic Islands. Together with Formentera, it is also the least visited. Since 1993, Menorca has been a protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It truly is a different world, full of calas (beach coves) and crystal clear turquoise waters. A total paradise.
You wonder if the water of this or that beach is crystalline or not. You are afraid of being disappointed when you arrive. Well here are some beaches where you can safely snorkel or dive.
