Scuba diving in Punta Ballena, Punta del Este, Uruguay, from the Club de los Balleneros towards Casapueblo. Visibility was very good for this area's standards, but despite this, there wasn't much to see. It may result interesting to view the area's marine bottom though. It may also be helpful if you can't sleep...

Scuba diving in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Removing fishing line snagged to the rocks. It is very usual to find lines snagged in the area, so we try to remove them to preserve the environment, reduce pollution created by the nylon line, the lead weight, etc. In this case, the hook still had the bait tied to it.

Snorkel Marina Del Este

Swimming With Sea Lions In Peru Isla Palomino, Lima
Islas Palomino Peru (FLORIDA-TV) Swimming with wild Sea Lions along Isla Palomino near Lima, Peru. Sea lions are amazing animals. And of course they live in many different places all over the planet.
We traveled to Peru to explore a place where you can actually get in the ocean, and swim with thousands of wild sea lions.
This may become your favorite activity and one of the coolest memories from a trip to Peru. An large population of sea lions awaits you on the island before Lima's coast to have a unique experience where you will not only swim with them, but also get to know their natural environment. And if that were not enough, you could even be lucky enough to have penguins join the fun. One of our favorite adventures on Florida TV
The weather is perfect on this day. Sunshine and pleasant temperatures. The topography is amazing. Islands without a single tree. A desert landscape that runs right into the Pacific ocean. I know the water is cold. Not because I felt it, but because of the penguins that make their home on some of these islands. The Humboldt current brings in a fresh supply of food, for all of the marine life. Sharks and Orcas do not swim in this area we are told and no one has ever spotted them here.
The technical name for the South American sea lion is actually the Patagonian sea lion.
They are found along the coast of Peru, Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina.
The sea lions feed on a steady diet of anchovies, squid, and octopus. When these items are scarce, they will consume small penguins they find out in the wild.
Male sea lions, when full grown, are twice the weight of the females. The males are approximately 9 feet long and weigh close to 800 pounds. The males have a patch of short hair around their large heads.
These animals do have predators to watch for. This includes sharks, killer whales and even, get this, mountain lions that will hunt the sea lions on land.
Sea lions can hold their breath for up to 20 minutes. And they can dive up to 1000-feet deep. They can swim at speeds over 20 mph.
