Video and photos of a dive trip(s) in Titirangi, South Island, NZ.
A favorite dive location of mine because of the scenery, the isolation and the variety of sea life.
The top of the South Island is a beautiful location in New Zealand.
Anakiwa Bay & Okiwa Bays - Queen Charlotte Sound
Anakiwa Bay is a popular bay in the Queen Charlotte Sounds and is where the Queen Charlotte Track begins or ends.
The video takes off from the jetty at Anakiwa bay and heads out to look across at Aussie Bay. You will see close up views of Okiwa Bay, Anakiwa Bay and a beautiful view from the head of the Queen Charlotte Sound. You may also notice the large expansive estuary of Okiwa Bay with large seagrass beds.

TrekkingTitirangi
Greetings Earthlings,
Thara and Al-Nis take a trek along Titirangi beach and land themselves in an adventure. At the end, tides had rose and had us stranded on the isolated rocks with a broken camera. We had the tablet so we still got some great shots. It was a terror trekking back, the tides had flooded the path and we had to climb, and at some point swim back to shore before sunset turned to darkset.

Surfing at Tuamotu Island Gisborne New Zealand
Surfing at Tuamotu Island off Sponge bay. Gisborne New Zealand. Tuamotu Island is situated off the coast of Kaiti beach and was in fact one of two islands facing Titirangi, (Kaiti Hill). Iti Tuamotu, was blown out of the water many years ago with the rock being used on the break water in the harbour.

Tuamotu Island is a reef break with a right and left point break on a rocky point, located out off Sponge Bay, between Sponge Bay and The Cliff. Requires a long paddle from Sponge Bay out to Tuamotu Island. The surf breaks off the point on the surf eastern tip of the island. The left hand point break then breaks along the south side of the island and the right hander breaks along the eastern side. The wave is powerful and hollow with plenty of barrels on the cards as it races along the reef, providing nice long rides on the left hander. Expert surfers only. You can't see the surf from Sponge Bay, so it pays to check the surf from up on the cliff somewhere before heading out.

ORCAS CHASING DUCKS
Killer whales are famous for their hunting ability. At Sea Lion Island (Falkland Islands) they usually come to prey on seals and sea lions. But in this occasion we witnessed (from drone) them going after a steamer duck. The orcas involved in this event are mainly the calves of the Puma pod, who seemed to be enjoing to play with the little duck, which was dead after a short time. They kept playing with it for a long time, without actually eating it, and finally left the area carrying it around, as a baby toy. This is probably a training behaviour, where younger individuals mimic what they will do in real hunting events.
