By Steam to Inverie
A rare inclusive steam powered journey from Fort William to Inverie recorded on Wednesday 28th May 2014. The film begins at Fort William where Stanier LMS Black 5 Locomotive 45231 is pictured as she awaits to leave with The Jacobite, a summer time tourists train running along the 41 mile West Highland Railway extension to Mallaig. Scenes recorded on-board the train includes the crossing of Glenfinnan Viaduct and various other locations as the train winds its way through the magnificent West Highlands to reach the end of the line at the fishing village of Mallaig.
Here, staying with steam power, we change our mode of transport from rail to sea and join the Paddle Steamer Waverley for a sailing to the Knoydart Peninsular with time ashore at one of the most remotest parts of the British mainland – the village of Inverie.

Ferry Over The Sea To Armadale Isle Of Skye Inner Hebrides Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of the ferry from Mallaig going over the sea to Armadale, Scottish Gaelic: Armadale, near the southern end of the Sleat Peninsula on the Isle Of Skye, Inner Hebrides.
Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry.
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye
Loud the wind howls
Loud the waves roar
Thunderclaps rend the air
Baffled our foes
Stand by the shore
Follow they will not dare
Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry.
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye
Many's the lad fought on that day
Well the claymore did wield
When the night came
Silently lain
Dead on Colloden field
Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry.
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye
Though the waves heave
Soft will ye sleep
Ocean's a royal bed
Rocked in the deep
Flora will keep
Watch by your weary head
Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry.
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye

West Highland Line
The West Highland Line is a railway line linking the ports of Mallaig and Oban in the Scottish Highlands to Glasgow in Central Scotland. The line was voted the top rail journey in the world by readers of independent travel magazine Wanderlust in 2009, ahead of the iconic Trans-Siberian line in Russia and the Cuzco to Machu Picchu line in Peru. The ScotRail website has since reported that the line has been voted the most scenic railway line in the world for the second year running.
Passenger services on the line are operated by Abellio ScotRail and Caledonian Sleeper: three daily return services between Glasgow Queen Street and Mallaig/Oban, and one nightly Caledonian Sleeper service between London Euston and Fort William.
