Cabilao is a small island on the west side of Bohol, facing Cebu Island. Its about 3800 friendly inhabitants survive on fishing and some agriculture. It is a government protected area with 8 square kilometers and suitable for people who like it away from mass tourism and commercialization. Among divers the island is famous for the very rich underwater life.

11 Hours Travel Bohol to Malapascua : Snorkeling Japanese Shipwreck & Night Market
It took 11 hours to travel by boat, van, boat from Bohol to Malapascua Island; then I spend the first two days on the island.
For day 1, I visit dive shops for scuba dive trips for the coming days; then we hit Langob Beach on the north shores of Malapascua, which had surprisingly good food right on the beach. I end the day with a visit to the night market in the center of the village for some wonderful local food and fresh seafood.
For day 2, we rent a private boat for some snorkeling, island hopping, and maybe cliff jumping. Snorkeling to see a Japanese shipwreck was a first for me. I love the experience!

One of absolute best things I experienced in the Philippines was swimming the giant seat turtles in Apo Island.
How did I find that place? The guys from Atmosphere Resorts know where the turtles are...
They're such gentle and adorable creatures! We had one swimming with us for almost one hour!!
Have you ever had the chance to swim with turtles? It's pretty amazing!
