Well, it’s worth the travel. Its spectacular parks, hot springs and hiking trails, as well as several alpine resorts, make this Utopia for wilderness explorers—especially if they’re beer lovers, too.

October to November – With thousands of wild salmon spawning in the river animals like seals, bears and wolves come out to feast on the salmon before winter arrives.
November to February: The is peak eagle viewing season. The world’s largest gathering of bald eagles sitting in the trees overhead “chat” to each other and dive down to the river for dinner. HBC Heritage Trail Part 2 - Blackeye's to Peers Creek
I finish off the last 45 KM of the Hudson's Bay Heritage Trail. The section from Conglomerate Flats to Deer Camp is by far the prettiest with grassy meadows and mountain views. After Deer Camp, the landscape becomes lush ad coastal and makes for a pretty hike, even if Fools pass is torture.
Along the way I share some historical tidbits and contemplate whether I've found some culturally modified trees.
Special thanks to Hope Mountain Centre for all of the work rebuilding this and for all the information I gleaned from the website and the kiosks. Also thanks to Kelley Cook for lots of extra tidbits of history.
If you want more details for hiking this trail, I've written a trip report on ClubTread:
