Diving Off A Floatplane At Phantom Lake, Squamish, BC
Those who wander find new paths and this trip will take you on a journey you’ll never forget.
Say goodbye to the busy trails, crowded beaches, and say hello to your own private floatplane tour, personal pilot, and the only way to access a scenic, untouched alpine beach high in the peaks of the coast mountains. Phantom Lake is one of BC’s most unique experiences.

On the way there (and back) you’ll fly shoulder-to-shoulder with million-year-old peaks, over ancient valleys, and through a landscape worthy of a NatGeo documentary.
After flying through the Coast Mountains you’ll land on the rich turquoise waters of Phantom Lake. Your pilot will taxi you over to the beach at the north end where you can enjoy taking photos, swimming, or just relaxing in solitude. A popular activity with our guests is to bring your own picnic for a little tasty treat or a memorable alpine lunch.

Diving Kelvins Grove BC - Friendly harbour seal
This dive location is located along Highway 99 just north of Vancouver along the beautiful Sea To Sky Highway.
This particular dive with 2 of my good friends was a rather fun experience. The local resident Harbour Seal was in a particularly playful mood. He stayed with us the entire dive playing, hunting, and hugging our fins.
These are the experiences that make me love diving with such a passion. Especially in my home of British Columbia.

Horrifying car fire on Sea to Sky Highway
After a day scuba diving at Porteau Cover Provincial Park scuba diving park, the cameraman and his wife were minutes out of the area when they came across a traffic jam and noticed billowing black smoke in the near distance. Hearing sirens in the distance, Brent continued to shuffle through traffic to get closer to the front of the line as he knew this was going to be a time consuming incident. Once near the front of the stopped traffic, Brent got out and began recording as the firefighters tackled the blaze. Being in a rural area, the firefighters of Britannia Beach and Squamish are volunteers which meant approximately a 20 minute arrival time from time of 911 call. Once they arrived they sprung into action and got the gear all ready and began fighting the 2 fires. The mini one being the vehicle, and once that was under control a second group of firefighters tackled the grass fire beside the highway.brTraffic is very heavy in this area as the highway leads from Vancouver B.C to the resort town of Whistler B.C .brAside from an exploding tire from the heat, and the vehicle being a total loss, the only other part the owner Lee said was we forgot our baseball gloves in the back.brLee mentioned they were heading from their hometown of Squamish, just minutes north, to his daughters ice hockey practice in another near town.brAll in all no one was hurt other than Lee's daughters desire to play hockey, a true Canadian girl with a love for Canada's game .

Kitamaat Village Community Observatory Deployment
March 2016 | Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) installed a new community ocean observatory at Kitamaat Village, on the northern coast of British Columbia. Crew from the M/V Crown Royal lay cable that links the underwater observatory to the shore station at Kitamaat Village. The village is located at the head of Douglas Channel on the north coast of British Columbia. Today, the Haisla people and the Haisla Nation are centered around Kitamaat Village, which is located approximately 10 kilometres south of Kitimat, British Columbia.
Coastal communities are facing a wide range of rapid environmental changes that are impacting their local ocean. On 30 March, ONC hosted an interactive community launch event and information session in Kitamaat Village to celebrate the deployment of this new observatory and explain how the community can access these data.
The new Kitimaat Village – Haisla Territory Community Observatory includes an underwater cabled seafloor platform equipped with a live-streaming video camera, instruments that record local water quality, and a hydrophone that records the underwater sounds of whales and the noise caused by ships.
On land, a weather station with a co-located automatic identification system tracks ships and above-ground video camera monitors environmental conditions 24/7. All the observatory data are streamed in real time to a shore station in the village and from there, to Oceans 2.0, ONC’s advanced data management system.
