Weekend Getaway Idea | Hamburg | Rügen Island | Part 2 | Travel Germany | Roamer Realm
This video is about Weekend Getaway Idea | Hamburg | Rügen Island | Part 2 | Travel Germany | Roamer Realm
Hello Friends! This video is the second of the two part sightseeing journey.
If you saw the first part of the video, you already know that I am now at the Rugen island, and despite the relatively difficult cycling experience, I managed to see the chalk mountains and explore the city of Sassnitz before the sunset. After some well deserved overnight rest at Sagard, it's time to start day 2 of this weekend trip and head over to another small town of this coastal pearl called Binz. So, let's go!
It was a random selection, but the hotel turned out to be a good one and the breakfast was quite filling - just what I needed before hitting the road!
There are 2 routes to reach Binz, and, for obvious reasons, I picked the one with more nature around it.
Just like the route from Chalk mountains to Sassnitz, this one was mostly downhill and, to be honest, 18 Kms didn't feel that 'long'.
Before I knew, the beautiful white sand beach at Binz were already in sight.
In case you're wondering, the small boxes that you see, these are called beach baskets, and are available for rent in case you're planning to spend the day at the beach itself. These are particularly good if you want shade from the sun or protection from the wind.
The street leading to the town center runs right alongside the beach, parallel to it, and is a walking street. Note that walk with your bicycle alongside, but riding is not allowed.
Many of the sea facing high end hotels are beautifully lined up on this street along with restaurants and bars.
In mood to shop? No problems because a host of these small shops selling clothes, souvenirs, beach items etc is readily available.
The walking street branch off towards the main beach at several points, it's more for the convenience of beach access.
Since the view was similar, I decided to head towards the town center to explore further.
The projection of the pier onto the sea towards the end of the beach is the actual town center and that's where I'm headed.
We need to understand that Binz is actually a very small beach resort town. So, is it like one of those dreamy beach locations you would see in movies? Well, I would say not to have such high expectations. In terms of activities, there is not much to do here. Visiting for a day or two, spending time relaxing at the beach and enjoying some great sea food would be the things to do.
The train station is just a kilometer away from the town center and you need to change once if you're taking a long distance train. After sundown I took a train back to Hamburg thus ending my cycling trip. It was a new experience for me exploring on a cycling and even clocking a 100 Kms at that!
I'll conclude this video on that note. If you enjoyed it, give it a thumbs up and please click subscribe to my Youtube channel, trust me, it makes a lot of difference.
As always, thanks for watching, keep exploring and I'll see you in the next one!
