Seborga, a tiny Italian township perched on a hill near the border with France, has formally declared its independence.
The declaration was made by Giorgio Carbone, a local flower grower who was elected prince of Seborga in 1963 by the then 300-odd Seborgans. The local citizenry now numbers 362. Seborga, a tiny Italian township perched on a hill near the border with France, has formally declared its independence.
The declaration was made by Giorgio Carbone, a local flower grower who was elected prince of Seborga in 1963 by the then 300-odd Seborgans. According to the locals, Seborgia was founded in 1118 by St Bernard of Clairvaux.
Prince George I has printed identity cards, passports, license plates and drivers' licenses for his subjects. The Bank of St Bernard's Knights has minted coins for the principality; each luigini is worth about US$6.

Le celebrazioni della Festa Nazionale del Principato di Seborga si sono svolti il 20 Agosto 2015!
Rivedere le immagini di questo giorno, tra cui il suo corteo della statua di San Bernardo tra la chiesa di San Martino alla cappella San Bernardo con la presenza del Principe S.A.S Marcello I° di Seborga e la delegazione ufficiale.

Marcello I da parte dell’“Observatoire International pour la Non Violence – Communes des Nations pour la Paix”, organizzazione non governativa che partecipa con funzioni consultive al Consiglio Economico e Sociale delle Nazioni Unite (ECOSOC).

Les célébrations de la fête nationale de la Principauté de Seborga ont eu lieu le 20 août 2015 !

The celebrations of the National Day of the Principality of Seborga took place on August the 20th, 2015!

Also a major announcement for the Principality of Seborga was made on this 20th August: the declaration of recognition of the Principality and the Prince S.A.S. Marcello I by the International Observatory for Nonviolence - Communes des Nations pour la Paix, a nongovernmental organization that participates in an advisory capacity to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

La serata si è proseguita con i sbandieratori e la tradizionale festa sulla piazza Martiri Patrioti.
