St. Moritz is a beautiful location in Switzerland featuring a lake and mountains. Its elevation is approximately 1,800 meters (5,910 ft) above sea level. Its location ensures it is sunny here about 300 days per year. St. Moritz is a very famous vacation spot because of its skiing, healing springs, stunning blue-green lakes, world-famous Cresta Run toboggan course, and top-notch spas. Conveniently, you can travel from Zurich to St. Moritz with the train in 3 hours and 20 min. If you drive your car this route you will travel over the Julier pass.
The city attracts many wealthy visitors. St. Moritz is known for its expensive hotels like Badrutt's Palace hotel, as well as its exclusive shops and boutiques. There are many activities for visitors. Many come to see the White Turf horse race on the frozen lake. Others come to see the museums. The town features the Segantini museum to honor Giovanni Segantini (1858–1899) who was an important artist of Realistic Symbolism and a great Alpine painter. Additionally, the Engandine Museum explores the domestic culture and history of this region. Tourists are also able to ride a cable car to Chantarella - Corviglia - Piz Nair.

Giovanni Segantini was an Italian painter known for his large pastoral landscapes of the Alps.He was one of the most famous artists in Europe in the late 19th century, and his paintings were collected by major museums.In later life he combined a Divisionist painting style with Symbolist images of nature.He was active in Switzerland for most of his life.

Mit dem Zug durch Graubünden
Seit August 2008 trägt die Rhätische Bahn einen Adelstitel. Die Strecke zwischen Thusis und Tirano, wurde von der UNESCO zum Weltkulturerbe ernannt. Die Albula Bahn und die Bernina Bahn sind Meisterwerke des Bahnbaus. Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts hat man sich wegen der aufwendigen Linienführung für eine Gleisbreite von einem Meter entschieden.
Der geadelte Schienenstrang ist 122 Kilometer lang und führt durch 55 Tunnels und über 196 Brücken und Viadukte. Nicht wenige Fachleute behaupten, dies sei die spektakulärste Alpenbahn überhaupt. Es ist erst das dritte Mal, dass Bahnlinien in die Welterbeliste aufgenommen wurden. Zuvor kamen nur die Semmeringbahn in Österreich sowie drei indische Gebirgsbahnen zu dieser Ehre.
Nicht nur die spektakuläre Bahnstrecke wird dargeboten, sondern auch die Menschen an der Strecke. Da gibt es den Bahnkenner Reto Barblan, der eine Menge Fakten zur Bahnlinie weiß, der aber auch viele Episoden am Rand erzählen kann, dass beispielsweise im kleinen Bahnhof von Stuls einstmals 17 Kinder lebten, mehr als im ganzen Dorf zusammen.
Marcella Maier aus St. Moritz hat in ihrem knapp 90 jährigen Leben viele Menschen kennen gelernt. Auch Hermann Hesse oder den Schauspieler Hans Albers und sie beschreibt die goldenen Zwanziger Jahre in St. Moritz.
Das Museum des Malers Segantini, das nur für drei Bilder errichtet wurde, ist natürlich ebenso im Film vertreten, wie der spektakuläre Ausblick auf das Engadiner Seencollier.
Am höchsten Punkt der Strecke, dem Ospizio Bernina, wird ebenso Station gemacht, wie im Hauptort des Puschlav in Poschiavo. Dort besuchen wir den ältesten Triebwagen der Linie und das Bernina Krokodil. Auch die Geschichte des Ortes wird uns nahe gebracht und das legendäre Ringbrot.
Abgerundet wird die Sendung mit Filmaufnahmen von 1925 und mit Hubschrauberbildern bei traumhaften Wetter.

The Engadinerhaus is a farmhouse type from the Engadin, the Vinschgau and the Tyrolean Oberinntal.
Typical for the Engadin house are the massive stone walls, often decorated with the sgraffito technique, the deep windows, the bay windows and the two entrance gates in the Sulèr and the stable at the front.
It is a three-storey residential house.
The Engadinerhaus
The Chesa Wazzau is a typical Engadine farmhouse: a massive stone structure with a wide saddle roof, a large doorway and small windows that are deeply embedded in the walls. House edges, archways and window frames are decorated with sgraffiti, composed of ornaments, drawings and pictures. The Engadine farmer has always kept his entire property in a building: a dwelling-house, cowshed and hay-barn, a storey, a cellar and a covered yard are united under one roof, a large barn door separates the Sulér from the Heustall.
Characteristic of an Engadine house are also the small windows, which look like shooting ranges: the smaller the windows, the less heat gives the house to the outside. In order to get as much light as possible into the living quarters, the windows are built outwards like funnels. The room windows are aligned to the street or the forecourt - after all, you want to know what is happening in the village.
Capital of the Unterengadin, consists of the villages of Scuol-case Scuol.

BETTINA WERNER: ST.MORITZ Art Masters August 2012
Internationally acclaimed artist Bettina Werner pioneered a complex textured colorized technique of creating art using vibrantly pigmented salt crystals in the early 1980', and established the Salt Queen Foundation in 2002 to encourage other artists working with innovative techniques.
Born in Milan, Italy in 1965 she is now a new American citizen residing in The Financial District of New York City. She is a motivational force in Lower Manhattan with her radiant, unique salt crystal artworks. Her breathtaking loft overlooks the New York Stock Exchange, in the newly renovated Philippe Starck Building, in the heart of the Wall Street world.
She studied at the prestigious Brera Academy of Fine Art in Milan. Bettina Werner started showing her artwork in the early 90's with Marisa Del Re Gallery in the Fuller Building, in Manhattan.
She celebrated her 25th anniversary of her creative Art journey, with a Retrospective at 7 WORLD TRADE CENTER. View the spectacular video:

Giovanni Segantini versuchte mit Akribie, die Effekte des Lichts darzustellen, sei es das fahle, neblige Licht der Brianza, sei es die Lichtexplosion des Engadins.
Die Kunsthistorikerin Annie-Paule Quinsac, eine der profundesten Kennerinnen von Segantinis Werk, sieht ihn künstlerisch auf gleicher Höhe wie zum Beispiel Ferdinand Hodler, Cuno Amiet oder Georges Seurat. Mit der grossartigen Darstellung der Engadiner Bergwelt und Landschaft in seinem Triptychon trug Segantini sicher wesentlich zur rasanten touristischen Entwicklung der Region bei.

Villa Planta is one of the most important buildings in the Grisons of the 19th century.
It was named after Jacques Ambrosius von Planta, the cotton industrialist returning home from Egyptian Alexandria, and was built by the architect Johannes Ludwig as a private residence between 1874 and 1875. It later became the Administrative Office of the Rhaetian Railroad; since 1919 it has served as the Graubünden Art Museum. It was restored and renovated in 1987–89 by Peter Calonder, Hansjörg Ruch & Urs Hüsler, Peter Zumthor.
The neoclassical villa has porticos in the style of Palladio and a Byzantine-like cupola over central atrium. The architecture displays a cabinet-like precision and rich décor. The sphinxes on both sides of the stairs in the yard are by Augusto Bianchi.
The art collection now comprises some 8,000 works from all areas of the visual arts from the mid-18th century to the present. Part of the collection is on permanent display at the Villa Planta. It primarily features works by Graubünden and Swiss artists.
There are extensive works by Angelika Kauffmann, Giovanni Segantini, Augusto Giacometti, Giovanni Giacometti, Alberto Giacometti, Ferdinand Hodler, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the representatives of the Rot-Blau group and contemporary Graubünden artists such as Matias Spescha, Not Vital, Elisabeth Arpagaus and Pascale Wiedemann.
