JR Nachi Station (JR那智駅), Nachi Katsuura City, Wakayama Prefecture
JR Nachi Station (JR那智駅) is a small station in Nachi Katsuura City and on the way to the Shingu City. JR Nachi Station also provides access to the Sacred Sites of Kii Peninsula in Kumano area. When I went to the station, it was temporarily abandoned because of the track damage caused by heavy floods in Wakayama. Nonetheless, the station was back in service few weeks after I left. There was a nice beach associated with an inlet of Pacific Ocean behind the station.
Enjoy

Riding a Limited Express Train Ocean Arrow to Kii Katsuura, Wakayama Prefecture
Ocean Arrow limited express train runs from JR Kyoto Station to JR Shingu station in Wakayama Prefecture. The entire ride takes about 5 hours. There are Ocean Arrow trains run from Shin Osaka also, and their frequency is more than the trains from Kyoto. Kii Katsuura station is one stop before the JR Shingu station. Kii Katsuura is known for Nachi Katsuura town, Nachi Mountain Range, Nachi Waterfall and two great places of worship Kumano Nachi Grand Shrine and Seigantoji Temple. In other words it is a great place to visit.
This ride from Wakayama to Kii Katsuura, for most part is alongside the edge of the Wakayama Prefecture and facing the Pacific Ocean. So, the ride has a combination of rustic village, Kii Mountain range and the ocean views.
Along the ride, there is a place called Taiji, where the critically acclaimed and controversial documentary movie The Cove was made. You can see some of the inlets and ocean settings where the dolphin catching is done.
The ride from Wakayama to Kii Katsuura itself takes about two and half hours and this video is a condensed version of the ride.
Enjoy - and yes, visit Kii Katsuura, Nachi Katsuura Town and Wakayama City. They are just fantastic!!!
Seiganto-ji 青岸渡寺 and Nachi no Taki 那智滝 - Japan
Seiganto-ji (青岸渡寺), Temple of the Blue Waves, is a Tendai Buddhist temple in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. In 2004, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with other locations, under the name Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. According to a legend, it was founded by the priest Ragyō Shōnin, a monk from India. The temple was purposely built near Nachi Falls, where it may have previously been a site of nature worship. Seiganto-ji is part of the Kumano Sanzan shrine complex, and as such can be considered one of the few jingū-ji (shrine temples, see article Shinbutsu shūgō) still in existence after the forcible separation of Shinto and Buddhism operated by the Japanese government during the Meiji restoration.
Nachi Falls (那智滝 Nachi no Taki) in Nachikatsuura, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, is one of the best-known waterfalls in Japan. With a drop of 133 meters (and 13 meters wide),[1] it is the country's tallest water fall with single uninterrupted drop albeit the tallest waterfall with multiple drops in Japan is Hannoki Falls of 497 m (seasonal), and Shomyo Falls of 350m (year round).
