Asaichi Morning Market - Sendai ᴴᴰ ● 仙台朝市
► This is Asaichi morning market, also know as Sendai's kitchen. A fresh market, with mostly fish, fruits and vegetables, located just a 5 minutes walk away from Sendai Station. It's usually open from 07-17, or as long as stock lasts.
It's a fun and colorful place to browse, even you're not in desperate need of huge bamboo shots or a kilo of squid. Here's a few impressions of the place, I hope you'll like it. - Enjoy!
Sendai, Japan - Sendai Station (2019)
Sendai Station (仙台駅 Sendai-eki) is a major railway station in Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi, Japan. It is a stop for all Akita and Tohoku Shinkansen trains, the eastern terminus for the Senzan Line, and major stop on both the Tohoku Main Line and Senseki Line. It is located on the border between Miyagino and Aoba Wards in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture.
Sendai Station is served by services operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), Sendai Airport Transit, and Sendai Subway. The station is served by the following lines.
JR East
Tohoku Shinkansen
Akita Shinkansen
Tohoku Main Line
Senzan Line
Senseki Line
Joban Line
Sendai Airport Transit
Sendai Airport Line
Sendai Subway
Sendai Subway Namboku Line
Sendai Subway Tozai Line
Although the main JR train station and the subway station are physically separate, there are underground passageways connecting the two. The main Sendai Station is above-ground, and is a hub for JR East containing both the Tohoku and Akita Shinkansen lines and several other local lines. The above-ground portion of Sendai Station lies in Aoba-ku, and is situated so that tracks run roughly north-south. In the station's easternmost section, underground and across the ward border in Miyagino-ku, is the platform for the east-west Senseki Line. Originally, this platform was also above ground; but in 2000, the line was extended to Aoba-dōri to the west, and the line was re-routed underground beneath the rest of the station.
The Sendai Subway lies to the west, and can be accessed from the main station via underground passageways at both ends of the station. The platform for the subway at Sendai Station is actually closer to Aoba-dōri Station than the other JR lines in Sendai Station. In fact, there is a transfer-only gate between the subway and Senseki Line platform at Aoba-dōri Station.
The Namboku Line platforms are located on the third basement (B3F) level, and the Tozai Line platforms are located on the fourth basement (B4F) level.
Sendai (仙台市 Sendai-shi, Japanese: [seꜜndai]) is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, the largest city in the Tōhoku region, and the second largest city north of Tokyo. As of 1 August 2017, the city had a population of 1,086,012, and is one of Japan's 20 designated cities. The total area of the city is 786.30 square kilometres (303.59 sq mi).
The city was founded in 1600 by the daimyō Date Masamune, and is nicknamed the City of Trees (杜の都 Mori no Miyako); there are about 60 zelkova trees on Jōzenji Street (定禅寺通 Jōzenji dōri) and Aoba Street (青葉通 Aoba dōri).
In the summer, the Sendai Tanabata Festival, the largest Tanabata festival in Japan, is held. In winter, the trees are decorated with thousands of lights for the Pageant of Starlight (光のページェント Hikari no pējento), lasting through most of December.
On March 11, 2011, coastal areas of the city suffered catastrophic damage from a magnitude 9.0 offshore earthquake, which triggered a destructive tsunami.

Tōhoku Revival Calendar:
Sightseeing in Sendai, Japan
こんにちは!Long time no video! I went to Sendai, Japan around November last year with some friends. It was a bit chilly but absolutely beautiful with the leaves changing colour.
Attractions:
Yamadera - nice walk up with beautiful scenery
Matsushima - good water views, touristy stores, tasty food (oysters!)
Ōsaki Hachimangū - pretty at night
We also enjoyed the city shops. There are plenty more things to do, but we only had a few days.
We stayed at Miyagi Guest House (link below), which was a bit difficult to find but the owner was very kind and there were kotatsu (heated tables).
Thanks for watching!

Let's explore Sendai City...
We start, as many do, in front of Sendai (train) Station. We then hop onto the Sendai City Loop Bus (Loople Sendai) and ride the bus out of the heart of city, up to the location of Aoba Castle. Where there are terrific views over the city skyline below.
We head back into the city centre to see some folks taking photos with a group of samurai warrior cosplayers. Finally, we take a walk down Asaichi Market street and check out the rich selection of foods they have for sale.
I hope you enjoy your spring day exploring Sendai City. If you did please leave a comment below!

Watari Arahama: Sendai's one of the finest seafood places
If you're already familiar to Japanese typical seafood like sushi, and are feeling like trying something more local and characteristic of the region/season, Watari Arahama is a place to go.
This cozy Japanese restaurant was originally located in a small town of Watari (south of Sendai), yet on 3/11 2011, the original building was all washed away by the terrible tsunami. Although they once considered closing the business, they decided to re-open this restaurant in Sendai supported by fans of this place.
Try their extremely fresh, seasonal seafood and you'll see why people didn't want this restaurant to close.

Life in Sendai, Japan - How it is to live in Sendai and what to see! 仙台市の生活
How it is to live in Japan, Sendai City/仙台市. I have lived in Sendai for a couple of month, and this is what to expect, where you should visit and 2 very famous festivals I attended, Sendai Tanabata and Aoba Matsuri Festival where the Suzume Odori (literally sparrows dance) takes place.
Sendai is the largest city in the Tohoku region and as a result can be called a medium sized international city
