Tōhoku Revival Calendar:
Traditional Sendai, Japan Snack Shiso-Maki
It is in its basic form a shiso leaf wrapped around miso and fried, and served with rice, tea, or sake in Miyagi, Fukushima, and Iwate prefectures from long ago.
While shiso-maki may seem like a simple and inelegant dish, don't be fooled!
Sendai Shiso-Maki Hosokawa's modern high-quality arrangements are set out by fine hotels and inns in Sendai.
The miso is a blend of four Sendai varieties. And the shiso leaves are the freshest large leaves from Miyagi's Misato-machi.
Five fantastic flavors such as walnut, cashew, spicy miso and others further increase the appeal!
Please enjoy ariTV Announcer Shinichirō Takano's report on this modern version of a traditional Tōhoku treat!

What greens and herbs Japanese islanders eat?
We traveled Yaeyama islands of Japan. In this video you can see the central fruit and vegetable market on big (Ishigaki) island (market locates just next to Ishigaki City Office). Not a huge selection of fruits at the time, but lot's of greens and herbs. Anyways, definitely recommended to visit for raw fruit and vegetable loving people. Didn't had a lot of organic labeling, but we believe that certain part of greens are organic. Farmers keep bringing their produce why we are shopping and mostly they are and look like a small scale local farmers and families.

Herb Garden / Japan
We walked randomly into this National Park and never expected to see this well-maintained herb garden. I so love it for its organized raised beds with corresponding scientific names and health benefits or usage. There are not much colors on this garden but it's so calming. I love this place. I found some ideas if ever I make my own herb garden back to the Philippines.

花【芝桜】Mt Japan and Chichibu shi, Saitama sheep, park and hill of moss pink
Moss pink(Phlox subulata)
Photography place: Mt. Japan and Chichibu-shi, Saitama sheep, park and hill of moss pink,
About 17,600 m of moss pink of 9 kinds and about 400,000 stocks is planted by the area of 2 in hill of moss pink,
and the aspect applies pink and white and is separated from the beginning of April to the beginning of May.
Moss pink began to be planted from 2000 and many tourists increased in celebrity after that,
and started to visit. A special train is driven by Chichibu railroad and Seibu Railway at bloom time.
A special parking lot is established because it can't finish accommodating at all in the flowering period when a parking lot is in the park but a heavy traffic jam has occurred on the surrounding road.
The kind of flowers: In an emerald cushion, Litle dot, AMEJINGUGURESU and Tama, it flows, autumn rose, Mack Daniel cushion, OKINTONBURU, O'Hara frame and white delight
North American origin.
tanmomo with the shape similar to a cherry tree makes a flower of red, light purple or white bloom in April and around May.
It was called moss pink from the leaf shape and the crawl.
The leaf is small with about 1 centimeter and hard by hiharikatachi.
It's really thick as I ramify and the ground may be covered up.
It's planted in heat and cold and dryness instead of an evergreen purpose lawn hard.
I have the effect which raises a sense of beauty on an emerald cushion and the purple light slightly.
If Leonard da Vinci,
the painter is bathed in purple light of stained glass of a church, too,
it's said that the meditation power was also 10 times. Nice HIRAMEKI would be born.
The innocence Litle dot and the feeling that they're elevated purely do gives me the power necessary to a body because the energy of the seven colors of all rainbows is included.
The white is also useful for fatigue reduction.
There is also an example that I have put on white for two days and have got over the cold.
Healthily, please be bathed in white power of a liter dot by all means.
AMEJINGUGURESU and COMBI of white and red purple make something important awaken.
You'd give me Tsutomu who can move to a new target by the white reset effect and the passion red purple kept.
You'd make the courage through which I live overflow.
In Tama, it flows.
Lavender pink has high effect which promotes secretion of a female hormone, so clear skin and the specific medicine best to be rejuvenated.
There is a breathing way which works in rejuvenation as a pink breathing way.
I inhale and throw up slowly while seeing immediate lavender pink. This deep breathing, 2-3 times, it's repeated.
Autumn Rose.
Rose pink is the color which tells the feminine gentleness.
Rose pink fits an adult lady, it's graceful and you make it elegant feeling.
One can be loved and it's the thankful color which becomes the female supporter who raises narcissism to cry.
Mack Daniel cushion.
Rather dark pink is also called magenta.
Magenta, another name the color of the nightingale.
I also have the effect which tells me a heart of mercy and wraps you who exert themselves too much again in motherhood-like affection.
The pain of a mind and body is even eased.
OKINTONBURU
Light blue purple produces extraordinariness of the travel you invite to some mysterious worlds.
The color of the purple system makes them forget a real unpleasant thing, and a sweet escape from actuality can be tasted, and you make them do.
O'Hara frame.
The cherry pink which is the color of the O'Hara frame says the case that purple MI is pink, not the color of the actual cherry.
Cherry pink with which purple spirit and the pink considerate gentleness mix makes us notice free love.
White delight.
Typical existence of the color than the pure white is ancient which connects with God more and the color which is done and is clear.
Clarification to a stress is much!
It's said that they have a good influence on a part as a pineal body in the brain like a color therapy, so secretion of many hormones is promoted, and it's also most suitable for health and beauty culture!
Making Forests of Life for the Ones You Love The Green Tide Embankment
Outlines forest expert Dr. Akira Miyawaki's disaster prevention plan to create authentic, self-sustaining tide embankment forests that will survive even stronger tsunamis and protect lives. Through interviews with Dr. Miyawaki and simple animations, the video demonstrates the problems with current man-made forests and shows how truly native trees are the best protection. The video also shows how many people have been moved to action through clips of dozens of volunteers planting seedlings, including the Venerable Hioki from Rinnoji Temple, who shares how he feels the principles of natural vegetation are in line with Buddhist teachings.
Hioki Doryu, the 44th Abbot of the Rinnoji Soto Zen Temple, is the Association Chairman. Deeply moved by Dr. Miyawaki's proposal to build protective forests from trees native to the area, he and local residents have planted over 33,000 trees from over 50 species around Rinnoji Temple, based on the principles of potential natural vegetation. Through Planting Tree Man shows, newspaper columns, and other media outlets, the Venerable Hioki is committed to teaching everyone, from children to adults, all across the world, about the importance of forests.

Creating Forests That Protect Lives
〜The Great East Japan Earthquake Recovery〜
In order to stand up to the tsunami that stole the lives of many,
and to ease the untimely passing of those who perished,
me must create waves of wisdom that will make it possible for us to live in harmony with nature.
Let us plant trees from the ground up to protect the ones we love.

説明
Explore Regional Flavors Visiting the Hidden Village PartII
Japanese cuisine has been developing various unique food cultures by region depending on their climate and history. Because Japan has plentiful mountains and oceans as well as distinct four seasons, there are many food ingredients grown in the land, and it turn into local specialties called “Kyodo-ryori” dwelling local’s nature and culture, which has been passed down from generation to generation. With the blessing of nature, “Kyodo-ryori” carrying delicate but rich flavor, is presenting Japanese commitment to dish as well as their history and culture. In this program series, our reporters meet the locals and discover a traditional way of life and the local cuisine of the hidden village.
In Part II of the two-part series, YouTuber Chris Broad visits a “hidden village” in Tsuruoka city, Yamagata prefecture. Towering over the city is the Dewa Sansan, three mountains revered from ancient times as a place where gods reside.
For countless generations, locals have picked seasonal wild plants and bamboo shoots in these mountains to make shojin ryori (vegetarian Buddhist cuisine). The people of Tsuruoka have also carefully cultivated and handed down over 50 kinds of indigenous crops for hundreds of years.
In the program, we also visit the Maze area of Gero city, Gifu prefecture, where ayu sweetfish swim in a river said to be Japan’s clearest. One of the area’s local dishes is hoba zushi, made of sushi rice and local seasonal ingredients wrapped in a leaf.
