The Shosenkyo Gorge in Japan is located in Chichibu Tama Kai National Park, which covers a large area, straddling several prefectures. They are easily accessible from Kofu town in Yamanashi prefecture, and they are by far the most beautiful natural attraction in the whole region. Many Japanese go here to discover or rediscover this gorge known for being one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful in the country. The decor is in any case really typical of Japanese prints and paintings and the atmosphere is very refreshing. The best-known and most representative image of these gorges is its 180m high rocky peak, the Kakuenpo rock, under which one passes on the way. All along the route, we follow the river Arakawa. This region being little tourist, we were the only foreign tourists.

Kofu is a city in central Japan. In its center, Takeda Shrine sits on the site of a revered 16th-century general's former home. Nearby are the ruins of Kofu Castle.
The Yumura Onsen area is home to hot-spring spas. North, the Arakawa River runs through Shosenkyo Gorge, known for its vibrant autumn foliage. A trail leads to Sengataki Waterfall. A cable car runs up to Mount Rakanji, which offers views of Mount Fuji.

Introduction of all the Way around Shosenkyo Gorge in Yamanashi, Japan 山梨県 昇仙峡 遊歩道の紹介
The Shosenkyo Gorge is just north of central Kofu City in Yamanashi Prefecture, 100 kilometers west of Tokyo.
It takes about 100 minutes from JR Shinjuku Station to JR Kofu station by express train (about 2300 yen in 2018).
Yamanashi Kotsu buses run from JR Kofu Station.
From JR Kofu Station it is about 30 minute ride to Shosenkyo Guchi bus stop (about 600 yen in 2018).

I recently went to Shosenkyo in Yamanashi, Japan with a friend. Toward the end he asked me about my smart phone and how much it costs, etc. It's a nice place to walk around and there are many stores and shops nearby. There's also a nice waterfall there but I forgot to get a shot! Sorry!

Shosen Gorge －昇仙峡－
Shosen gorge near the city of Kofu, is considered Japan's most beautiful gorge. It is part of the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, which covers more than 1250 square kilometers of forested mountains, valleys and some rural towns in the prefectures of Yamanashi, Saitama, Nagano and Tokyo.
A hiking road leads for about four kilometers along the Arakawa River from the Nagatoro Bridge to the Sengataki Waterfall, offering beautiful scenery of the mountain river and the narrow valley with its interestingly shaped rocks, many of which are named after animals or items, they resemble.
