58. Senyuu Ji of Japan's 88 Temple Pilgrimage
A snippet of life along the final stages of the 88 temple pilgrimage of Shikoku, Japan. All of this video was shot at Temple 58, which is Senyu Ji, located near the town of Imabari.
Temple 58 Senyūji - 仙遊寺
If you are walking the pilgrimage it is about a 15 minute walk up a fairly steep hill from the main gate to the temple grounds of Temple 58, Senyūji - 仙遊寺, Hermit in Seclusion Temple. If you are driving or taking a bus, you will drive past the main gate and can head straight to the temple grounds. The temple gets its name from a hermit who spent 40 years up here praying and then one day mysteriously vanished. I was granted permission to film inside, so there is footage of the main image: a Thousand Arm Kannon, legendarily carved by a female dragon. お遍路四国八十八ヶ所 T58仙遊寺
