To the Threshold of Serenity: My final Steps towards Kedarnath Temple (July 2012 )
Kedarnath is amongst the holiest pilgrimages for the devout Hindu. It is set amidst the stunning mountainscape of the Garhwal Himalayas at the head of the Mandakini River. Kedar is another name of lord Shiva, the protector and the destroyer. Shiva is considered the embodiment of all passions - love, hatred, fear, death and mysticism which are expressed through his various forms.
The temple is not directly accessible by road and has to be reached by a 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) uphill trek from Gaurikund.
A Complete Journey from New Delhi to Lucknow, High Speed crossings& a superb twist- INDIAN RAILWAYS
Date of Journey: June 6, 2015
Train: 14258 Kashi Vishwanath Exp
Presenting a full journey compilation of the journey between Delhi and Lucknow from the Kashi Vishwanath Express. This train runs with CBC coaches and covers the 493 kilometer distance between New Delhi and Lucknow in 10 hours, at an average speed of 49.3 kmph and a maximum permissible speed of 110 kmph, with 16 intermediate halts. It is possibly the only non Superfast Express of Northern Railways to ply with CBC coaches.
This compilation covers Kashi Vishwanath's rapid run through the plains of Uttar Pradesh. Just a few kms into our journey, to be specific after Anand Vihar, we enter UP. After that, this entire journey of mine was in the state with the largest no. of electoral constituencies in India. KV maintains a fantastic pace as it zips through the local train halts such as Mandawali, Anand Vihar and Sahibabad. A little track maintenance work slowed us down at Chander Nagar. Post Ghaziabad, the NH24 accompanies us to a large part of the journey.
Powered by a Tughlakabad WDP4B, there are some high speed encounters on the way, notably with the WDM3A hauled Uttrakhand Sampark Kranti, the WDM3A hauled H-LHB Saharsa-Amitsar Jansadharan Express, and the WDM3A hauled Dhanbad Firozpur Ganga Sutlej exp. But the biggest surprise of them all was the twin overtakes of the Amritsar Saharsa Gaibrath. After being allowed to depart New Delhi ahead of the late running Garibrath, the first overtake was inevitable and happened at Amroha. But why did the second overtake happen??? Some ruthless section controlling allowed us to move ahead while the Garibrath was still in Moradabad. Since our route was common till Lucknow, I wondered if the second overtake will happen at all, considering that an ordinary M/E like KV was given preference over a SF premier class train. It did happen, but not before the GR trailed us for another 110kms, from Moradabad to Pitambapur that is. We managed to reach Lucknow with a delay of 40mins, but the GR rchd just 40mins ahead of us, delayed by nearly 3hrs.
Enroute Lucknow, we cross two of the major rivers of North India- namely Yamuna within Delhi, immediately after climbing the ramp at Pragati Maidan, and the Ganges, at Garhmukteshwar. Apart from this we also crossed the Ramganga river near Moradabad, and the Kannaut river near Shahjahanpur and also a significant no. of canals along the route. The interesting part about this route is the amount of nature and serenity surrounding the place all the way. Apart from major towns and Junctions One hardly gets to see an Industrialized atmosphere along the tracks. Surrounded by a lot of farms and wild foliage, this route to Lucknow is indeed a worth-traveling-in-day-time kind of route. For a better experience, I would suggest taking the Dibrugarh Rajdhani, which runs three days a week (2 days with the no. 12436/35 & one the other day with the no. 12236/35); for this train traverses this entire Delhi-Lucknow route via Moradabad in broad Daylight, an early summer travel around the months of March and April would give a pleasant experience and allow the traveler to just sync in the natural beauty of this route, or rather the landscape to be specific. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed the run just as much as i enjoyed it in person.

1960's Neal's Block Instrument still used in Indian Railway
Block instrument is used for controlling the trains in between two stations. The object of providing block instruments is to prevent more than 1 train in the block section at a time. This is a typical Neal's block instrument. This system is primarily used for single line routes. A metal ball comes out of this instrument which is shown at the end of the video. The ball token system relies on the crew's physical acquisition and carriage of a small metal ball to mark a train's permission to enter a section of track. The ball is dispensed by a Token Instrument at either end of the block. The two instruments are interconnected so that at any given time, one and only one ball can be handed out from either of them, ensuring that only one train from either direction can enter the section of track ('block') controlled by them.
When a train stops at a station, the driver or assistant driver relinquishes any token they might have carried for the previous section, and picks up the token for the next section. The ball token may be engraved with the station codes for the stations at either end, and usually also has a serial number.
A bell or other telegraph mechanism between signal boxes provides for communication of a few basic messages, such as whether the train is on a block, whether it has left the block, whether permission is granted to enter the block, whether a train has had to stop for an emergency in a block, whether it has had to reverse direction, etc.
Neale's token system was innovative when it was introduced, as it combined, for the first time, the token handling system with the block instrument operation into a single system. This particular instrument was installed in 19 67.

Walk tour of Puducherry | India | Former French colonial town in India | Yi 4k plus | 60 fps
Puducherry is a Union territory of Republic of India. The Centre is represented by the Lieutenant Governor, who resides at the Raj Nivas (Le Palais du Gouverneur) at the Park, the former palace of the French governor. The central government is more directly involved in the territory's financial well-being unlike states, which have a central grant that they administer.
Puducherry is also very famous among western tourists because of the nearby auroville ashram & aurobindo ashram.
