Discover our neighborhood: Boulder, Colorado
Boulder, CO has been our hometown for more than 2 years, but now it's our time to leave for new adventures (you will know more pretty soon). For this occasion, we decided to make a short video showing the main places to visit if you come to Boulder.
Boulder is located in NorthWest of Denver in Colorado, at an altitude of 5,328 ft (1,624m). This city is not famous in the United States, but actually it's very cool to live there:
• First, the climate is just right, with a great amount of snow in winter, very beautiful days in summer, cool thunderstorms in spring, and magnificent colors in the countryside in fall (which is our favorite season)
• Secondly, there are plenty of landscapes: forests, mountains, creeks, lakes, unusual rock formations, etc. Boulder is only 30min from Denver, an hour from Rocky Mountain National Park, and close to a lot of other places that you can see in our video about Colorado landscapes (here is the link: Plus, it's only a few hours from Utah which allows a lot of weekend opportunities!
• Finally, people here are very nice, relaxed. There are a lot of restaurants, shops, and places to chill. Plus a lot of sport activities such as hiking, bicycling, or climbing. Sport is really a part of the culture.
The main places to visit in Boulder are:
• Chautauqua Park with the view of the Flatirons and the Green Mountain. This is the main landscape in Boulder where people like to hike.
• NCAR or National Center of Atmospheric Research, a little bit above the city level, also popular for hiking.
• Settler's Park with its Red Rocks, at the feet of the Mount Sanitas, also popular for hiking.
• Colorado University campus with its beautiful architecture.
• Flagstaff Road with its viewpoints: Boulder Amphitheater, Realization Point, Lost Gultchman Overlook, Gross Reservoir... This road goes up in the nearest mountains and gives you views of both the city and the mountains.
• Boulder Creek, flowing across the city from West to East. Very popular for bicycling.
• Pearl Street Mall and 29th Street Mall, the main places for shopping and dining in Boulder.
• Boulder Falls, on the way to the town of Nederland.

Boulder Real Estate Whittier Neighborhood
A funny thing about many Boulder neighborhoods is that over time, different ideas develop about what the boundaries are for the area we think we know.
Remember to get the new Boulder Real Estate and Neighborhood Guide:
If you're interested in Boulder real estate and want to know more about different neighborhoods, I'm offering this as a resource, and I've compiled information from a variety of different sources.
I've lived in many different parts of Boulder. The Whittier neighborhood is one of them. When you drive around the downtown area many people think only of the vicinity of Boulder near Whittier Elementary as the true Whittier neighborhood.
The City of Boulder data says that the Whittier neighborhood encompasses the residential sections of Boulder between Bluff Street to the North, 28th Street to the East, Canyon Boulevard to the South, and Broadway to the West.
That's a pretty large area and most of us consider those parts of downtown something other than Whittier. With all the changes and developments in the central Boulder area, it's probably more useful to talk about Whittier as the eastern part of central Boulder from about 18th or 19th streets eastward over to 28th Street as a maximum eastern boundary.
One of the cool things about the Whittier neighborhood is that it's home to Whittier Elementary School, which is the oldest continuing operating school in the state. It's also an International Baccalaureate school.
I have a friend that grew up in Boulder and went to Whittier Elementary. I'm pretty sure one or both of his parents went there. I know that his kids went to school at Whittier Elementary, and even though he and parts of his family have lived in other parts of the country, he has lived in the Whittier neighborhood for the last decade or two; in the home that his grandparents owned since he was a child. Now that's some local history and connection.

Chautauqua trail and the Royal Arch in Boulder, Colorado
This video is about the Royal Arch in Boulder, Colorado
Brown's Park, UT
Browns Park, originally named Brown's Hole, is an isolated valley, 35 miles long and 6 miles wide. It is bounded on the south by Diamond Mountain, a part of the Uinta Mountains, and on the north by Cold Spring Mountain. The valley is located in extreme NE Utah, NW Colorado, and south-central Wyoming. The Green River flows through the park.
In the late 1870s a number of settlers had taken up land in Brown's Park. One of these, John Jarvie, opened a general store/trading post on the north bank of the Green River. The store, with its ferry across the river, served as a way station for travelers. He was murdered while he was alone at his store on 6 July 1909. Today, the Jarvie ranch and store is maintained as a historic site.
Cattlemen, cowboys, rustlers, settlers, and outlaws all intermingled in Browns Park.
Outlaws like Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid, Matt Warner, Elza Lay, Tom Horn, Ann Bassett Queen of the Cattle Rustlers, and many others left their mark on the history of Brown's Park.

Hi everyone. This is Nature girl, a.k.a The Mountain Nut and welcome to Colorado Keepsake Day Hikes. Today we are going to admire and learn about the rocks known as the Fountain Formation that begin 14,000 ft underground then work their way tot he surface at an angle. Manifestations typical of the Fountain Formation can be found all along the Colorado Front Range, as far south as Colorado Springs all the way north to Ft. Collins. So if you've been dreaming of the West, then you've come to the right place as I take you by foot and by car along the Colorado Front Range.
