Spirit of Tasmania - Flavours of Tassie Showcase Seven Sheds Brewery
When you're travelling to Tasmania, nothing hits the spot quite like a refreshing, freshly poured beer. At Seven Sheds Brewery in Railton on the northwest coast of Tasmania, they have deliciously brewed ales, lagers and porters by the kegful. Five years ago they began with a quality Kentish Ale and the range has now expanded to over ten diverse on-tap brews.
Willie Simpson, the owner of Seven Sheds, in collaboration with Gerry Gaffney, the manager of hospitality services aboard Spirit of Tasmania, decided to brew a special batch of porter, and stow them on board Spirit of Tasmania, leaving them there for two months as Spirit of Tasmania travels back and forth between Devonport and Melbourne, recreating the original sea journey of the second fleet from England to Australia as they brought the first beer to Australian shores in 1792.
This creativity and passion for experimentation will be on show during Seven Sheds pre-dinner beer tastings on board a Spirit of Tasmania voyage. Come along and enjoy the flavours and cheer as Willie Simpson and the Seven Sheds brewers treat you to an unforgettable journey aboard Spirit of Tasmania.
