I took a trip to Hangzhou for Tomb-Sweeping Weekend. The highlights of my day were the Lingyin Temple and Leifeng Pagoda.
Lingyin Temple is a Buddhist temple where the temple's name is commonly literally translated as Temple of the Soul's Retreat. It is one of the largest and wealthiest Buddhist temples in China, and contains numerous pagodas and Buddhist grottoes. There were many pathways through hills of the temple, where hundreds of Buddhist statues were carved into the rock. My favorite had to be the big happy Buddha that was placed at the entrance of the cave. I also took a moment off camera to pray with my incense in hand for my family and loved ones. There was an aura to the temple that made me feel welcome and at peace.
We took the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery and rode our bikes from the temple to Leifeng Pagoda, passing various ponds and lakes from the Xixi National Wetland Park. Finally, we climbed 300 plus stairs to get to the top of the Pagoda with West Lake and the sunset as its backdrop.

#NingboFocus Seven-pagoda Temple was built in Tang Dynasty (858 AD) in Ningbo. Its construction model was displayed at MUGAK 2019 - BIENAL INTERNACIONAL DE ARQUITECTURA DE EUSKADI in Spain. Visitors were all surprised by the delicateness of this Chinese traditional wooden architecture.
Mangshi - Yunan, China
Mangshi, located in the west of Yunnan province, is the capital city of the Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture. It is also known as “the city of dawn” because it was right in the dawn when Buddha came to this land according to the legend. Buddhism is talk of the town at this place. As a matter of fact, Mangshi has one of Asia’s most renowned Buddhist shrines -- the Menghuan Grand Golden Pagoda complex. Located at the Leiyarang Mountain, the seven-floor Buddhist pagoda with a height of 73 meters domineers the whole city and is the landmark of the prefecture.
Mangshi is also a unique fusion of multiple ethnic minority cultures, including Dai, Jingpo, Susu and De’ang etc. Its rich and colorful heritage has cultivated various forms of art, including the well-known peacock dance, Daiju opera, folk song, the Water Festival, the Dance & Song Festival, the traditional Dai painting and paper-cutting etc. It is the spiritual paradise for both Buddhist pilgrims and camera-wielding sightseers.
To properly further utilize its recourses and gain greater growth, the local authorities kept seeking a smart solution that can modernize the town while keeping its wild, untouched beauty. Known as an expert in smart connected solutions, Traxon e:cue was eventually chosen as the project provider.

hours.A huge fire yesterday reduced a 16-storey Buddhist pagoda to rubble in China.The Lingguan Tower, billed as 'Asia's tallest wooden pagoda', burnt to the ground after being engulfed in the flames for about four hours.The fire reportedly started from a hall underneath the pagoda and quickly spread to the wooden structure.

Zhaobao Mount is considered to be one of the best scenic spots in Ningbo, with walking trails on and around the hill and numerous sites to explore. These include the 57.6 metre tall, seven-story (about 264 steps) Aozhu Pagoda, the 2000 foot long, 10 foot thick Weiyuan City Wall built during the Ming Dynasty (1368--1644AD), and the even older Zhenhai Seawall originally built in 897AD during the Tang Dynasty (618--907AD). I came to try the best Chineset street food and enjoy a bunch of Chinese Street Food and sample new types of Chinese cuisine. I'm a Chinese food lover, so I also went to a couple nice restaurants to enjoy the full spectrum of Chinese cuisine.

Michelin Star CHINESE Breakfast at The PuLi Hotel & Spa + KING SUITE TOUR | Shanghai, China
In April of 2019, I had the pleasure of getting hired by Renault for a one-day job in Shanghai, China. I knew I had to spend more than a day in China, so I extended my trip to 12 days so I’d have enough time to explore a few cities properly. In addition to Shanghai, I also ate my way through Suzhou and Hangzhou and learned a lot about the history and culture along the way. It was such an amazing trip and I’m thrilled I get to share it with you!
After arriving back in Shanghai to begin a one-day job with Renault, my sixth day in China began with a phenomenal Chinese breakfast at their Michelin-star winning restaurant and a tour of my incredible suite at the luxurious PuLi Hotel & Spa! Come along with me as I show you what this immaculate hotel is all about!
The PuLi Hotel & Spa has 193 rooms, a gym, and the Phénix Restaurant, which has one Michelin Star. It’s so quiet inside. It puts you in Zen mode right away. Inside the lobby is a super long table and a gorgeous seating area. It’s so unique and so Chinese and is definitely one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at.
I was really hungry and wanted to beat the crowds, so I headed up to the Phénix Restaurant to get some breakfast! Their dining room is enormous, with two tables, a Continental-like breakfast, sofas, and a buffet with tons of options like buns, fruit, cheese, cold cuts, salmon, and more. There’s a larger room, but I took a private one instead.
At the bottom of the menu are seven Chinese specialties for 75 Yuan/roughly $11 U.S. each. I went with the doubled-boiled chicken broth pork wontons, stir-fried Shanghai noodles, and egg fried rice. I’d had the other four items, so I wanted to switch it up!
I drank a double espresso while I waited. I started with the pork wontons. They were a little different and came with super-thin noodles. There were only 3 wontons, but that’s how it is in Michelin star restaurants. The portions are always really small, but the quality of the food is always astronomical.
The wontons were like a pork ball with a little bit of wonton wrapper around it. It was kind of like a fish. Then, I went with the noodles, which kind of reminded me of the delicate glass noodles from Thailand. It was worth the price!
Then, I went with the egg fried rice, which came with burnt onions on top. It was my first fried rice dish in China! It was incredible. The egg was cut up throughout the dish. It wasn’t oily, either. It was just right and had a nice crunch for the onions. I wasn’t sure if it was worth the price, but it was tasty!
Next was the stir-fried Shanghai noodles. The sauce was like a red, glazy sauce and the noodles had spring onion and other vegetables in it.
Then I went over to the buffet to get a pork bun, a vegetable bun, a custard bun for dessert, and a pork rice dumpling. I grabbed some soy sauce and another coffee. I started with the pork rice dumpling, which is famous in Shanghai. It’s condensed and tastes more like a grain and feels like a pot sticker.
The pork bun was bite-sized and super soft. I love pork buns so much! The vegetable bun was next. It was shaped differently and contained some kind of meat that might have been pork. Amazing! Then I went with the custard bun, which was really sweet and was the perfect way to end my meal!
Then I went up to my room, a Grand King Suite on the 6th floor. My suite was so sick! There was a great bed, a huge couch where I could work, a table where I put my equipment, a flat screen TV you could move around, a lovely bathroom with a tub and sink and two closets. There was also a huge shower and a separate toilet. It was simple, elegant, and chic!
I also had a view of the park! The bathtub overlooks the park and is the perfect place to relax. I highly recommend staying at the PuLi Hotel & Spa when you come to Shanghai. It has everything you could possibly want!
