This ancient enclosure was researched by an archaeology team from Manchester university in 1978. Professor Charles Bernie was the leader of research team at the time.
Two other times this ancient enclosure were researched by Iranian teams in 2001 and 2005. They estimated the sculptures and other ancient ruins belong to 6000 BC.
There are a variety of ideas about those standing sculptures in Shahar Yeri (شهر يري), some say they're for religious ceremonies while some others believe they're graves sculptures.
The latest researches confirm people who lived in the place were interested to learn about stars.
