Shahi Palace Hotel - Recomendación hotel Jaisalmer (BSO Prem Joshua - Mudra - Lahore Connection)

Jaisalmer Sam Sand Dunes, Jodhpur and Udaipur | 7 days budget itinerary
7 Days trip to Rajasthan: We covered 3 colourful cities : Jaisalmer,Jodhpur and Udaipur.
It was a family trip planned during the Christmas week. December is a peak season and prices are usually on the higher side.
Since it was a budget trip, we chose Train and Bus as a mode of transport. We also booked the hotels in advance so that we get a better deal.
Sharing our complete 7 day itinerary:
We boarded our train - Bandra Jaisalmer express from Mumbai. There is only 1 train between Mumbai and Jaisalmer and it runs only on Fridays. So, plan you travel accordingly if you are travelling by train.
Day 1: We reached Jaisalmer at 1:00 PM and checked into our hotel Boomerang. After relaxing for some time, we went to explore the local Jaisalmer market and Food street near the fort.
Must try : Dhanraj Ranmal Bhatia sweet shop - Pyaaj ki kachori, Imarti, Ghewar and Ghotua are the standout dishes.
After munching on the tasty snacks, We went to the fort and enjoyed the amazing sunset.
For dinner we went to 1st gate hotel. This hotel has a roof top restaurant with a perfect fort view.
Day 2: We booked a Desert safari package from our hotel. It costed us Rs 2500 /- per person (a little on the higher side due to christmas) which includes personal to and fro transport between Hotel and Desert camp, Camel ride to desert camp, Jeep safari, Cultural night program and Rajashthani dinner.
Day 3 : On our final day in Jaisalmer, We explored Patwon ki haveli and Gadisar lake.
Day 4 : We boarded an early morning Jaisalmer-Jodhpur express train to Jodhpur. It took us 6-7 hours to reach Jodhpur. After relaxing a bit in our hotel, we took a rickshaw to visit Umaid Bhawan Palace.
This is a very beautiful palace turned 5 star hotel. One part of the palace is a museum and is open to public. Entry ticket - Rs 30 /- per person. Timing - 9 AM to 5 PM.
After visiting Umaid Bhawan, we went for shopping near clock tower and tried some local snacks.
Must try: Samosas, Mirchi vada, Chat and lassi at Shahi Samosa outlet very close to clock tower. Also, traditional clothes, home decors are very reasonable and prices are mostly fixed and non-negotiable at the shop.
other local attractions includes Mehrangarh fort, Jaswant Thada and both are about 2-3 Kms from Clock tower.
Day 5 : After spending one night in Jodhpur, we booked the early morning Rajasthan State Road Transport corporation (RSRTC) bus tickets for Udaipur. There are only few RSRTC AC buses for Udaipur however there is a non-AC RSRCT bus every 30 mins-1 hour.
Tickets for both AC and Non-AC can be booked online via bus ticketing app. We used Redbus.
It took us around 6 hours to reach Udaipur. We checked into our Hotel Minerwa Grand near lake Pichola.

EP 3: Golden Fort Of Jaisalmer |Exploring Jaisalmer Culture And Food
Jaisalmer Fort is situated in the city of Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is believed to be one of the very few “living forts” in the world, as nearly one fourth of the old city's population still resides within the fort. For the better part of its 800-year history, the fort was the city of Jaisalmer. The first settlements outside the fort walls, to accommodate the growing population of Jaisalmer, are said to have come up in the 17th century.

The journey to the hinterland of the desert starts every Wednesday evening at 1800 hrs from Delhi and ends on the following Wednesday early in the morning at 0730 hrs.
The Royal Background of the Palace on Wheels
On rolling back wheels of time, we find the rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India travelled by these luxurious coaches. After independence, these coaches were parked and remained in this state for a quarter of a century until in 1981-82, when the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways launched a special heritage tourist train for providing a unique memorable experience to the tourists visiting Rajasthan.
The name Palace on Wheels was derived from it's royal background of the coaches. Gradually State govt. and railway department brought many infrastructural changes in the coaches while keeping the same aesthetics of the interiors alive, matching the interiors of the royal state. The train was replaced by the air-conditioned broad gauges new train, which had 14 saloons, 2 restaurant cum kitchen cars, one Bar cum Lounge and 4 service Cars. The cabins of each saloon are attached with bath and shower. The train also has a well-appointed lounge, library and bar.

Especially facilitated for you with all modern amenities of everyday life, you would find the royal past haunting you in the historical coaches. The two dining cars are decked up in true Rajasthani style and each saloon has personal attendants, khidmatgars, for your service. Step aboard for a journey into the past on a luxury train.
oyal Services on Board
Apart from 14 saloons, each having 4 cabins attached with bath and shower, the Palace on Wheels has two restaurants cum kitchen cars offering traditional Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine with the Chef's special variety of the day. Its well stocked bar serves Indian liquor and variety of scotch, wine and cocktails. It has piped music in every saloon, and interesting games for children.
The newly introduced spa saloon, offers aryuvedic massage to refresh yourself for next day tour. Other services include laundry services and Doctor on request . Souvenirs and gift items bearing the insignia of Palace On Wheels and a coffee table book on the history the train are also available.
The names of the saloons given are based on the princely states of Rajasthan- Jaipur, Jodhpur, Alwar, Bundi, Kota, Jhalawar, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Jaisalmer, Sirohi, Bikaner, Udaipur and Kishangarh.
The Lavish Interiors
Sit in these beautiful carriages and look around. You will find that each saloon highlights the cultural ethos of the state, represented through the use of furniture, handicrafts, painting and furnishings. The ceiling in the lounge is of particular interest. Each saloon is different but the overall ambience of the décor of the saloons has been taken care of to provide continuity and harmony.
Each saloon has cream yellow colour on its exterior walls and bears the Coat of Arms (logo) of the erstwhile princely states.
