10 Most Unusual Restaurants In The World!
Join me as I show you 10 of the most unusual restaurants in the world.
10. The Disaster Cafe
In Spain, in Lloret de Mar, you're going to find a place called The Disaster Cafe, and it's unusual for numerous reasons. First and foremost, the name, would you really want to go to a place that's calling itself a disaster? Granted, if it's a play on words, then it's actually clever marketing, and it might indeed bring in the guests, weirder things have happened in the restaurant industry.
However, what really sets the Disaster Cafe apart from other restaurants is that is actually has a natural disaster within it, and it uses it often. For this restaurant is able to create 7.3 Richter Scale earthquakes. You heard me right, this restaurant actually creates earthquakes for its customers so that they can feel what it's like to be in one. To be clear, no one is usually harmed in these, as 7.8 is actually rather calm in terms of Richter scale measuring. But still, having the ground shake beneath you while you're eating can be very annoying, and the appeal surely fades after the first few quakes. And yet, people go to it.
9. The Rock Restaurant
On the island of Zanzibar, you're going to find many exotic locations, but one of the most unusual of all is The Rock Restaurant, and it's exactly what you're picturing in your mind. It's a restaurant that is located on a rock, and that's it. Ok, it's not exactly it, it's actually rather interesting how the restaurant looks, as it's carved into the rock as well as being put on the rock. What's more, you can get there via walking, taking a swim, or a canoe.
How so? Well, that's one of the unusual bits, for The Rock Restaurant is actually located offshore. Not too far, it's only a reasonable swim away, but you will literally be eating a meal in the Indian Ocean.
However, according to those that have been there, the food is really good, so if you're in the area, and you don't mind an odd venue or road to get there, you might want to try it out.
8. Modern Toilet
I can't even imagine how this place is still open, but trust me, it is. In Taipei City, Taiwan, there is a restaurant called Modern Toilet, and it's almost exactly what it sounds like. No, you don't eat human byproducts (thank goodness...), nor do you eat on a toilet seat. Rather, you actually eat food OUT OF a toilet.
Now hold on, it's not exactly a real toilet. Rather, it's a mini-toilet that serves as your eating dish, and yes, it's given to you, you don't have to go to a food bathroom if you will.
Funnily enough, the current Modern Toilet in Taiwan is actually the second version of the place. The first one originally only served chocolate ice cream...out of the toilet dishes. Think you can guess why? Exactly. Let's move on. But now, the place serves all kinds of food out of the toilet.
According to sources, the creator of the restaurant was literally on the toilet and reading a Manga comic when he had this idea. A version of this was actually brought to the United States, but it did pan out.

7. Ninja New York
Full disclosure, I personally think that this idea is brilliant, I mean, who wouldn't want to go to a restaurant where the servers are ninjas? Oh, you wouldn't? Fine, be that way.
Ninja New York is a very real restaurant, and one that is designed to actually look like an ancient village from Feudal Japan, where the ninja once roamed. What's more, as noted, the waiters, cooks, and other staff are actually all donned in Ninja gear, and some will even perform tricks and acrobatics when serving you or coming to see how you are. Furthermore, the layout is actually designed to be deceptive to your eyes, making you think that something is there, and yet it isn't. Perfectly placed for a ninja to pop out of nowhere!
The food is very traditional in terms of Japan from the ancient times, with many modern tastes as well. And yes, apparently Ninjas drink bxxx at this restaurant.
I suppose though that to those that don't like Ninjas (shame on you if you don't), or would rather be in a more traditional Japanese restaurant, than this place wouldn't be for you.
6. Devil Island Prison Restaurant
You're familiar with the phrase scared straight, right? It means to scare someone with the truth in such a way that they won't go down a certain path, and this is what the creator of the Devil Island Prison Restaurant had in mind when he made the place. You see, he had the noble idea to create a way to scare people from a life of crime. So, he made a restaurant that was prison-themed inside and out to show people a glimpse of what it would be like if you were in prison.
For example, when you enter the restaurant, you're put into handcuffs and guided towards your table.
