積丹半島 神威岬 Shakotan Cape Kamui Hokkaido JAPAN
Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Kaigan Quasi-National Park ニセコ積丹小樽海岸国定公園 is a quasi-national park in the Shiribeshi Subprefecture of Hokkaidō, Japan. On the coast of the Sea of Japan, there is a Marine Protected Area covering the west and north coast of Shakotan peninsula from Kamoenai to Otaru.
Cape Kamui 神威岬 on Hokkaido's Shakotan peninsula, is great stop for any sightseer. From the parking lot, a maze of trails weaves its way to a series of viewpoints overlooking the Sea of Japan.
Legandary Kamui Rock is believed to actually be a broken-hearted young girl who threw herself into the sea and turned to stone long ago.
Shakotan was founded in 1869 as part of the short-lived Shiribeshi Province, which was dissolved in 1882 to become Hokkaido. Shakotan, along with neighboring Otaru, is home to Japan's only national-level marine sanctuary. Shakotan is home to the three great capes of the Shakotan Peninsula: Kamui, Shakotan, and Ōgon.

At Cape Shakotan (Shimamui Coast), one of the capes on the Shakotan Peninsula, a blue world created by the bright blue sea and various oddly shaped rocks suddenly appears right before your very eyes after walking through a dark tunnel. Why not stroll down to the beach to see the blue color of the sea for yourself?

Access: By rental car or taxi – About 2 hr. 30 min. from New Chitose Airport via expressway
By train and bus – About 37 min. from New Chitose Airport to Sapporo Station by rapid train → get on the Chuo Bus “Express Bus Shakotan-go” at Sapporo Station Bus Terminal and get off at bus stop “Shimamui Coast Entrance,” which takes about 2 hr. 40 min. in total
*A direct bus to the bus stop “Shimamui Coast Entrance” runs once a day from late April to late October.

神威岬 小樽 美瑛 Hokkaido Roadtrip Part 2 - Cape Kamui, Otaru, & Biei
The second part of our Hokkaido Roadtrip features our visit to Cape Kamui, Otaru, Biei, and Moerenuma Park in Sapporo. There are more tourists than usual since we filmed it during the Golden Week Holiday in Japan.
• Cape Kamui requires a lot of walking and climbing both up and down the steep cliff with strong winds. So if you plan to go there, it’s better to wear comfortable clothes. The view was breathtaking. My words aren’t even enough to describe how beautiful it was. The cliffs, ocean, the rocks, and the view of the snowy mountains at the back. It was amazing. After the walk from the view point, we treat ourselves with a “Shakotan Blue Soft-serve Ice Cream” which they sell near the gift shop.

•We had lunch at Shokudou Ushio 食堂うしお which I think was the closest restaurant from the view point. Their fresh “Uni” (sea urchin) is a must try!

•Otaru is famous for its glassworks and music box. It’s nice to visit a music box museum where you can see vintage music box items.
▶️
•Biei is a town surrounded by fields, green hills, and mountains. The time we went there spring literally just started so there wasn’t much greens to see. I heard summer is the best season to visit. We visited the Shirogane Blue Pond which has a very peculiar bluish colored water, then Shirahige Water Falls, and Farms Chiyoda.

Moeranuma Park in Sapporo is a huge park with several artificial landscapes. You can see a beautiful panoramic view of Sapporo on top of the manmade hill.

The Izu peninsula 伊豆半島 is a large mountainous peninsula with deeply indented coasts to the west of Tokyo on the Pacific coast of the island of Honshū, Japan. Izu peninsula is a part of Shizuoka Prefecture.
Shimoda 下田市 is located at the southern tip of the Izu peninsula about 100 kilometres southwest of Tokyo. Shimoda's location, with the Amagi Mountains to the north, and the warm Kuroshio Current to the south give the city a humid, sub-tropical climate.

So this is day 2 of living in a van in Japan, and finding the best places in Hokkaido. On this second day we will be driving from Kutchan to Shakotan and sleeping in the van at bikuni kodomari beach. This was an amazing day in Hokkaido getting to see cape Kamui and cape Shakotan,.

I went to Cape Kamui in Shakotan, Hokkaido! 積丹にある神威岬に行ってみた！
I went to Hokkaido during the summer and had the chance to go visit Cape Kamui in Shakotan, Hokkaido! You can do a lot of hiking over there in summer and it's a great nature spot. I recommend going in summer since there may be too much snow on the roads to drive in winter! Hope y'all liked this travel video!
