Visit Historical Place Mainamati Shalbon Bihar and Black Stone In Museum,Comilla Bangladesh
They are famous historical and archeological places around Comilla. These are a series of hillocks, where the Northern part is called Moinamoti and the Southern part is called Lalmai; and Shalbon Bihar is in the Middle of Lalmai and Moinamoti, which the was established in 8th century by King Buddadev. Salban Vihara, almost in the middle of the Mainarnati-Lalmai hill range consists of 115 cells, built around a spacious courtyard with cruciform temple in the centre facing its only gateway complex to the north resembling that of the Paharpur Monastery.
Kotila Mura situated on a flattened hillock, about 5 km north of Salban Vihara inside the Comilla Cantonment is a picturesque Buddhist establishment. Here three stupas are found side by side representing the Buddhist Trinity or three jewels i.e. the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
Charpatra Mura is an isolated small oblong shrine situated about 2.5 km. north-west of kotila Mura stupas. The only approach to the shrine is from the East through a gateway, which leads to a spacious hall.
If you are in Comilla and already visited Lalmai, Moinamoti then don't miss to go Moinamoti museum -- where you will find the historical things found in Lalmai & Moinamoti of 7th & 8th centuries. The Mainamati site Museum has a rich and varied collection of copper plates, gold and silver coins and 86 bronze objects. Over 150 bronze statues have been recovered mostly from the monastic cells, bronze stupas, stone sculptures and hundreds of terracotta plaques each measuring on an average of 9 high and 8 to 12 wide. Mainamati is only 114 km. from Dhaka City and is just a day's trip by road on way to Chittagong.
Decidedly untypical of Bangladesh in topography and culture, the Chittagong Hill Tracts have steep jungle hills, Buddhist tribal peoples and relatively low-density population. The tracts are about 60km (37mi) east of Chittagong. The region comprises a mass of hills, ravines and cliffs covered with dense jungle, bamboo, creepers and shrubs, and have four main valleys formed by the Karnapuli, Feni, Shangu and Matamuhur rivers.

This Time We Are Going To Comilla Mainamati Shalbon Bihar From Dhaka . From My Locations Dhaka To Comilla Mainamati Shalbon Bihar total distance 106 KM . We Started Our Journey By Car At 8 Am and Reach after 3 hours in Comilla Mainamati Shalbon Bihar .
Shalbon Bihar The ruins are in the middle of the Lalmai hills ridge, and these are of a 7th-century Paharpur-style Buddhist viharas with 115 cells for monks. It operated through the 12th century. Excavations have revealed many archaeological artifacts dated to between the 7th and 12th centuries. Most of them are kept in the Mainamati Museum now. Before 1200 years ago the King Bhava Deva, the fourth ruler of the Early-Deva dynasty built that place on 168 square meters of ground. It was the royal palace for the early Buddhist students. This site, previously called Shalban Rajar Bari, came out after archaeological excavation as a Buddhist monastery and hence termed as Salban vihara from the terracotta seals and copper plates discovered. Its original name is supposed to have been Bhava Deva Mahavihara after the 4th king of the early Deva dynasty which ruled this region from the mid-7th to mid-8th centuries AD. It was built in or on the outskirts of Devaparvata, the Samatata capital bordering the Lalambi forest.

It’s located about 8 km to the west of Comilla town at Chittagong Division in Bangladesh. There are 4 walls surrounding of Shalban Vihar of Mainamati . The total amount of room is 115 in which the Buddhist monks studied and observed religious practices. There was only one door in north side.

First you have to come to Comilla. You can reach at Comilla by bus or train. Its around 2 hours bus or train journey. I have gone there by bus. From my experience, Asia Lines and Tisha are the two affordable transport facilities that you can use. It will cost you 160 Taka per person.
The final destination of the bus is Comilla town, but it will be better for you to get down at Comilla Cantonment. Cause its nearer from Comilla Cantonment rather than Comilla town. Take a CNG/battery driven auto rickshaw to reach near the Moynamoti from there

It operated through the 12th century.

Comilla Bangladesh is one of the best known Buddhist viharas in the Indian Subcontinent and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the country. At the end of the 8th century, King Shri Bhavadeva made the Salban Bihar in this place. The digging started from 80th decades. Many archaeological elements were found here. Most of them are kept in the Mainamati Museum.

Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development(BARD)
The Academy was established in 1959 to train government officials and representatives of the local government and village organizations on various subjects relating to rural development. The Founding Chief executive of BARD was Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan- an internationally renowned social scientist. It is an autonomous institution governed by a Board of Governors of which the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative is the Chairperson. Administratively, it is attached to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. The Director General acts as the Chief Executive of the Academy and he is assisted by the Additional Director General and nine Directors. The activities of the Academy are carried out by its Faculty working in 9 Divisions each of which is headed by a Director. The Academy is famous for its evolved model “Comilla Approach to Rural Development” which is well-known at home and abroad, BARD received National Award in 1986 for its remarkable contribution to Rural Development.
