Phenomenal CHINESE FOOD at Shanghai Tower, the WORLD'S Second TALLEST Building | Shanghai, China
In April of 2019, I had the pleasure of being hired by a company in China to do a one-day job for them. But since I’d never properly vlogged China before, I decided to extend my trip to ten days so I could really explore and show you guys what this country is all about. I visited the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou and had the time of my life! I can’t wait to show you guys this amazing country!
My first full day in beautiful Shanghai, China continued on a chilly, cloudy afternoon. I started at The Bund and decided to head over to the Pudong area to visit Shanghai Tower, the second-tallest building in the world at over 2,073 feet tall.
The Bund is a beautiful, mile-long area that offers great views of the skyscrapers of Pudong. There are 52 buildings there, including banks, international trading houses, the Masonic Club, the Shanghai Club, and more. The buildings are so historical and the architecture there is amazing. It’s super clean and is a great spot to visit in Shanghai.
I headed to take The Bund sightseeing tunnel over to Pudong. I bought a ticket as well as one for the top of Shanghai Tower for 225 Yuan, or about $32 U.S. I’d never done this before, so I couldn’t wait to explore. There’s a cart you get in that takes you through a 2-minute light show through the tunnel. It’s so cool!
Next, I needed to head over to Shanghai Tower. It had been built when I first visited Shanghai in 2015 but wasn’t open then. On the way, I passed the Oriental Pearl, which I visited on my first visit. Here, there are walkways above the streets where you can see all the buildings of the financial center. The clouds parted on my way to the tower, so I’d get some great views!
I headed inside. The tickets to the observatory are 180 Yuan, or about $26 U.S. It’s so worth it to visit the highest observation deck in the world! You have to take the fastest elevator in the world to get up there. It takes less than a minute to reach the 118th floor!
My ears popped on the way up! I was so excited to be there. I love visiting observation decks. There was lots of fog outside the window, so I couldn’t really see out, but I could see down toward the ground. Even with the fog, the views were beautiful. The fog gave it a charm in a way. It’s crazy – every building that looked tall from the ground looked tiny from the observation deck! You can get some sick photos of the Shanghai Financial Center building there.
I went up to the 119th floor next, which is another deck. There are displays there that show how Shanghai has changed over the years. There’s also a lounge up there, so you can get some tea and a snack if you want.
I made my way back down and looked for Food Republic, which is at the exit of the observation deck. I’d been to other Food Republics around China and loved it, so I couldn’t wait to eat there!
Food Republic contains lots of different eateries with a big food court in the middle. You just look at the menus and see what you like. There are tons of food options here. I stopped at one called Hok Kee and went with stir-fried beef, oyster sauce, vegetables, and lemon tea.
I paid 35 Yuan, or a little over $5, for my food, got my number, and waited at a table. It’s super easy! The dish consisted of beef, eggs, herbs, noodles, and sprouts. The sauce was delicious and contained lots of refreshing vegetables. It was so tasty and earthy! There wasn’t much beef, but the noodles were fantastic. They were nice and thick. The sauce was rich and wasn’t spicy at all. The textures were outstanding!
I also got some black tea with lemon, which was great. The noodles were so filling, I couldn’t possibly eat anything else. You have to get this dish when you come to Shanghai!
What an amazing afternoon! If you loved coming along on my trip to Shanghai Tower, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also, please subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss any of my upcoming travel/food videos!

Phenomenal CHINESE FOOD at Shanghai Tower, the WORLD'S Second TALLEST Building | Shanghai, China
The World's Second Tallest Building - Shanghai Tower
The Shanghai Tower is a 632-meter (2,073 ft), 128-story skyscraper in Shanghai, China. It shares the record (along with the Ping An Finance Center) of having the world's highest observation deck within a building or structure at 562 m, and the world's second-fastest elevators at a top speed of 20.5 meters per second (74 km/h; 46 mph). The Shanghai Tower is the world's second-tallest building by height to the architectural top. However, the title of the world's fastest elevator now belongs to the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, with a top speed of 21 meters per second (76 km/h; 47 mph) achieved in 2017. Designed by international design firm Gensler and owned by the Shanghai city government, it is the tallest of the world's first triple-adjacent supertall buildings in Pudong, the other two being the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Centre. Its tiered construction, designed for high energy efficiency, provides nine separate zones divided between office, retail and leisure use.
Construction work on the tower began in November 2008 and topped out on 3 August 2013. The exterior was completed in summer 2015, and work was considered complete in September 2015. Although the building was originally scheduled to open to the public in November 2014, the actual public-use date slipped considerably. The observation deck was opened to visitors in July 2016; the period from July through September 2016 was termed a test run or commissioning period. Since April 26, 2017, the sightseeing deck on the 118th floor has been open to the public.

Burj Khalifa VS Shanghai Tower - Which has the best view?
Burj Khalifa (Dubai, UAE).
Shanghai Tower (Shanghai, China).
Currently in 2018 The Burj Khalifa and the Shanghai Tower are still the tallest skyscrapers in the world.
The Burj Khalifa with a total height of 829,8 meter (2722 ft) and the Shanghai Tower with a total height of 632 metre (2073 ft).
They both have super fast elevators and they have won Guinness World Records.
On these two towers you can find also the highest observation decks in the world. The view is breathtaking from both the towers.
In this video I put together the clips I shot from the two towers and edited them to show the views during the day, the sunset, the night, but also the view of the inside of the observation decks and the elevators besides the view from the outside of these amazing towers.
The Burj Khalifa videos (At The Top SKY) have been taken in April 2016 while the Shanghai Tower videos have been taken in October 2017.
Burj Khalifa versus Shanghai Tower, which has the best view in your opinion?
If you had to choose, what tower would you like to visit?

Shenzhen Centre (660 meters)
For more than a year ago we've climbed Shanghai Tower certainly not expecting the resonance and the amount of feedback we've got. And so, that amount of feedback led us to an idea of making a tradition of roof toping new skyscrapers all around the world. Todays hero of attention is a new financial center still under construction and is situated in Shenzhen, China. Right now its height is about 660 meters and that makes it the second tallest tower in the world. Right after Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
