Aerial view of Suiyang Ancient Town (aka Shangqiu Ancient Town), at Shangqiu, Henan, People's Republic of China. The Old Town of Shangqiu is located in the southwest section of the city proper. Dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the brick construction retains great historic and cultural relics, especially in the traditional residential houses and courtyards characteristic of the period. At the time of visit, major redevelopment and reconstruction works were ongoing. Many historic structures being demolished and replaced by look-alike new buildings.

Churches are supposed to be the place where Christians worship God. In central China’s Henan Province, however, the government is forcibly occupying churches in large numbers and turning them into theaters, game rooms, and other types of entertainment venues — all to Christians’ torment.

11 killed in a fire in Henan Province's Shangqiu
A fire in Shangqiu city in the central Chinese province of Henan has killed 11 people. Authorities said a local meat processing factory caught fire at 11 a.m. on Monday, and three hours later the fire was brought under control. Eleven people were rescued and sent to a nearby hospital, but none survived. Three workers who failed to abide by proper operation procedures have been taken into custody. An investigation is underway.
