The bats of Sharad Baug Palace in Bhuj, Kutch, India
A very special place in Bhuj, Kutch, India, as far as I can tell. Only in the garden of the former king of Kutch these fat bats hung around in the threes and started to get active during sunset...

Chattardi bhuj
Chattardi were constructed sometime in the 18th century to glorify the cenotaphs of the Rao’s of Kutch. Most of the buildings were affected by the earthquake of 2001. The Chhatris in Bhuj were constructed in the 18th century by Jadeja ruler Rao Lakhpatji. These are the last resting place of Royals of Kutch.
Vlog to madhaper
In this vlog we had visited to Bhuj Chhatedi, a historic cemetery of Bhuj Ruler. Most of it's historic structures has been ruined by 2001 earth quake. A renovation is under construction though.

Sharad Baug Palace was built in the year 1867 and is positioned right in the middle of the Sharad Baug Park. The entire area has numerous gardens and orchards that are dotted with medicinal and fruit-bearing trees. The palace was owned by the Maharaos who used to govern Kutch. Maharao Madansinhiji Jadeja, the last of the Maharao rulers spent the better part of his life in this palace. Following India’s independence in 1947, Kutch became a part of Saurashtra after Madansinhiji signed the succession treaty.
The original building which got badly demolished during the earthquake appears quite unassuming amidst surroundings that are more grandiose. The bedroom, drawing room, and the guest room occupy maximum room in the palace. The dining room is housed in an adjacent building. Collectibles and antiques including paintings, statuettes, handicrafts, swords, spears, and hunting trophies are there on display at the palace which has been turned into a museum.
Best time to visit
Although, the palace witnesses visitors around the year but it is always recommended to visit the place during the months of November to March. Bhuj remains quite hot during the remaining part of the year.

History of Kutch through its Palaces and Museums
Kutch, located in the Bhuj region of Gujarat, is home to diverse cultural traditions. The region’s heritage and culture can be seen through the various existing architectural structures, including palaces, mahals, and official buildings. Several of these structures have been converted into museums which in turn preserve the region’s history through artefacts. For over four hundred and fifty years, Kutch was ruled by the Jadeja dynasty. Their long reign, marked by stability and wealth, translated into building activities. Some of the prominent structures patronised by royalty include the Sharad Baug Palace (now a museum), Aina Mahal, and Prag Mahal. The oldest museum in Gujarat, the Kutch Museum, also belongs to this region. Pramod Jethi, who previously worked with the Aina Museum, retraces the history of Kutch through the existing built heritage of the region.
