Express are day-trains and they return to the station
of origin the same day.

This is my first train journey in South India and that too in Shatabdi express.

BHOPAL SHATABDI HIGH SPEED Trains 2 : Indian Railways

The BHOPAL SHATABDI .Catch the High Speed Action of Trains hurtling across the Northern part of Indian Railways, where the tracks are pretty much laid straight and the terrain is flat allowing trains to do a pretty decent speed out there. This is in continuation to Part-1 which can be watched a here

The highest speed being 150 KPH approximately is the Max permissible speed at present. The Bhopal Shatabdi is the only Train presently running at this Top speed. Feasibility study is still in the pipe line to run Semi High Speed Bullet Trains with speeds up to 200 KPH in the near future.

The presently running Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches are fit for speeds upto 160 KPH only. How ever Rajdhani Class Trains are doing a max speed of 130 to 140 KPH only presently.

Gatimaan Express Vs Bhopal Shatabdi - The New Epic Rivalry Of Indian Railways

After the first Trials for the Gatiman Express were conducted way back in 2014. The Railway Board after finally conducting 7 Trials gave a green Signal to Gatiman Express on 5'th April 2016. It made a Furor amongst the Railfan community of India and every station on the New Delhi - Agra Stretch were full of RailFans Saluting the New High Speed Train Of Indian Railways.

We had planned for capturing the Fastest Train of Indian Railways on 5'th April on it's Inaugural and hence I had made up my mind that we would capture the Bhopal Shatabdi First and then would capture the New Speed King - Gatiman Express. Hence, I got up at 3:30 a.m. probably the only time I get Up at that time when I have to go out for a Long RailFanning Session..........Jokes Apart I got a Call from fellow friend and RailFan Anirudh Kaushik at 4:15 a.m. to meet at NZM and I left home at 4:30 a.m. in my Car and picked up Kaushik From Sarai Kale Kha and we continued the journey forward by taking up the Yamuna Express Way. It was a Fun Joyful Ride seeing the Sun Rise in front of our eyes was a mesmerising treat to the eyes and we reached Vrindavan Road at sharp 6:45 a.m. to get ourselves the treat of watching First Mumbai Rajdhani and Bhopal Shatabdi. But it was a poor start to the day as Mumbai Rajdhani was stopped on the Main Line . Now , we were waiting and waiting and finally Chattisgarh Express came and got Looped at Vrindavan Road and we straight away knew that Bhopal Shatabdi won't be very far away and within a span of 5-7 minutes in-came the Legendary Bhopal Shatabdi tearing apart Vrindavan Road Station with a brilliant mesmerizing honking an absolute music to the ears. Now we headed towards Agra with Breakfast on our minds, we directly made a pit stop at McDonald's On our way and after having our Burgers Packed we moved ahead towards Kitham. On the way we took a short Detour and stopped at a Level Crossing and took few videos of Express Trains coming from Agra Side and Delhi Side. At 10:30 we had already reached our destination for the capture and hence decided on to wait there it self for the capture of the New Fastest Train Of Indian Railways , The Gatimaan Express. At Sharp 11:40 , The Train made it's entry in a Grand Style and all the workers who were otherwise working on the Over Bridge had stopped their work and were patiently waiting to see the new train in all it's glory and full fury. It was like Watching a Movie. It came and went like a Bullet. It was a very hot and Humid day and we finally settled for a Lunch at a Local Eatery and even a hefty lunch did not fill up our stomach and we decided to capture the Evening Encounter with The Gatimaan Express , Hence we waited inside the Restaurant till 4:30 and in the evening after Capturing Chennai Duronto , Bilaspur Rajdhani and Gondwana Express , It was again time to capture the New Speed King Of Indian Railways , The Gatimaan Express. Finally After Capturing The Evening Gatimaan Express , It was time to leave back for Delhi and our Goal of capturing Gatimaan and Bhopal was achieved. It was a long journey to reach home quick as I had to drive Back Fast and Catch the late night train Himachal Express to Una.Himachal Pradesh. Finally made it back to home tired but full of joy after having captured the fastest train of Indian Railways on It's Inaugural Run.

Now Some Info On The Gatimaan Express :-

Gatimaan Express is a semi high speed train that runs between Delhi and Agra in India. It operates at a speed of 160 km/h (99 mph) and is the fastest train in India. The train will take a travel time of 100 minutes to cover 188 kilometres (117 mi) journey from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Agra Cantonment railway stations.

History -

In October 2014, the railways applied for safety certificate from Commission of Railway Safety to start the service. In June 2015, the train was announced officially and numbered 12049/50. The train was launched on 5 April 2016 and completed its maiden journey within 100 minutes.

Service -

An Executive Class ticket will cost ₹1500 (US$22) and travel by AC Chair Car, will cost ₹750 (US$11).The train leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin at 8:10 am and reach Agra at 9:50 am and departs from Agra at 5:50 pm and reach Nizammudin at 7:30 pm. The train has two Executive AC Chair Car and eight AC Chair Car coaches.The train is equipped with bio-toilets, fire alarms, GPS-based passenger information system and automatic sliding doors. The train have train hostesses for service, similar to airlines and the passengers will get access to free Wi-Fi and multimedia content. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals will be available in North Indian ,South Indian and Continental cuisines.

As 2018 is counting the last days of a yet another wonderful year , Indian Railways encountered many changes here and there and all parts of India . With numerous trains getting LHBfied day and night on one end , we got the latest senstaion of IR in terms of Train 18 or T18 , the first Loco less high speed train of our nation .
This is a high speed video compilation of the trains which has got more avg speed and hence included in this list . 22435/436 New Delhi - Varanasi - New Delhi Vande Bharat Express is rolling well , but at speed moderate speed of 130 kmph , which we Indians are not at all content with . Hoping the present route to be changed and the maximum speed to be incrreased , I have put Train 18/Vande Bharat Express on the top list .

About Aerodynamic WAP 5
Chittaranjan Locomotive Works(CLW) had turned out the First Aerodynamically designed 3-phase WAP-5 passenger electric locomotive to reduce Air Drag at higher speed for more energy efficiency and dynamically stable during high speed operation. This WAP-5 type electric locomotive is of 5400 HP capacity and is equipped with latest IGBT based propulsion system. The Driver desk has also been Ergonomically re-modified for improving the manoeuvring skill of loco pilots. Gear arrangement has been modified in this special type of electric locomotive for hauling at max speed of 200 kmph. This locomotive shall be utilized to haul the prestigious trains over Indian Railways, like; RAJDHANI EXP, GATIMAN EXP and SHATABDI EXP.
Further, this locomotive has also been provided with Crew Voice and Video Recording System(CVVRS)for Onboard Driving Data Recording & Analysis . Cameras with microphones are provided at the critical positions inside & outside the locomotive to record the voice and audio signals for post event analysis with data storing facilities.

The EMD GT46PAC is a passenger-hauling diesel-electric locomotive with AC electric transmission designed by General Motors Electro-Motive Division and built by both GM-EMD and under license by Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) of Varanasi, India for Indian Railways as their classes WDP-4, WDP-4B and WDP-4D. The GT46PAC is a passenger version of the previous Indian Railways EMD GT46MAC freight locomotive. The locomotive has a 16 cylinder 710G3B diesel engine with a maximum speed of 904 RPM.

The WDP4D Locomotive:-
Newer editions with 4500 hp have been produced which have been named with the sub class WDP-4B /WDP-4D which have different traction control with six traction motors and are Co-Co bogie equipped (more similar to WDG-4), unlike the original which has a Bo-1-1-Bo arrangement with four traction motors. Due to some visibility hindrances faced by loco pilots in driving long hood front, the basic WDP-4B model has been modified to dual cab to eliminate any such possibility. The other features of the WDP-4B and the WDP-4D are the same. The newer cabs have slightly wider profiles to improve visibility & LCD instrument display.

The 12009/12010 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express is a super fast express train of Shatabdi class belonging to Indian Railways that runs between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad Junction in India. It is a 6 days a week service. Earlier it would operate excluding Fridays, later it was changed to exclude Sundays.
It operates as train number 12009 from Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad Junction and as train number 12010 in the reverse direction.
It is fastest train on the Mumbai – Ahmedabad Sector following train is the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Duronto Express which is 2nd fastest train in BCT-ADI sector.It used to run six days a week excluding Fridays after the exclusion day became Sunday.
It covers the distance of 493 kilometres in 6 hours 20 mins as 12009 Shatabdi Express (87 km/hr) & 6 hours 40 mins as 12010 Shatabdi Express (81 km/hr).
The Mumbai Central – Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express generally has 1 Anubhuti, 2 AC Executive Class coach, 15 AC Chair Car coaches(1 Extra) & 2 Luggage cum Generator coaches. The train runs with the Linke-Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. The number of coaches is added / removed as per the demand on the train. Catering is arranged on board the train.
Earlier Valsad(BL) based WCAM 2/2P locos were used to haul the train between Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad Junction until at least March 2012 although Western Railways completed DC Electric Conversion to AC on 5 February 2012. After that it used to be hauled by a Vadodara(BRC) based WAP 5/7 locomotive until July 2017. It is now regularly hauled by a Vadodara(BRC) based WAP 7 locomotive. It also uses the Head-On-Generation Technology also known as HOG with the HOG Equipped WAP-7.

After checking out of our hotel, we made our way to the New Delhi train station where checked in, placed our luggage and found our seats whilst we slowly drifted away from the chaos of the city.

Honestly our 6 hour train ride was super pleasant - we got served soo much food and drink and were able to watch the sunset towards the end of the ride.

We have now arrived in Amritsar and the first stop is the Golden Temple (also known as Harmandir Sahib) where we learnt more about the Sikh religion and saw the amazing kitchens that feed 60,000-100,000 people a day with volunteers.

Another amazing day in India - there's so many more to come!

The EC is the First AC (1A) equivalent of the Rajdhani and Duronto trains. The EC has 2X2 seating compared to 2X3 seating in AC Chair Car (CC). The food served in EC is also different than that of CC.

LHB Rake base: Puri, ECoR.

This train was initially a day time running non-stop Duronto Express with ICF - EOG coaches, later it was converted into a Shatabdi to cater the enroute passengers with suitable stoppages. .

The train covers the distance of 500 km in 7.5 hrs.

It stops at Kharagpur Jn, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

The train consist of 1 LHB Executive Chair Car, 10 LHB AC Chair Car and 2 LHB Luggage Brake cum Generator Car.
