Twelve-year old girl shot by gang-related shooting stray bullet
A 12-year old girl is recovering in the hospital after being shot on Wednesday night in the upper torso.
Fresno Police said rival gang members exchanged gunfire near Church and Cedar in Calwa. A stray bullet traveled through the walls and hit her. Seven large bullet holes riddled the girl's home. The injured girl is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive. Her father spoke with us off camera on Thursday he said he's so grateful his daughter is alive.
There were gang, gang signs, gang verbiage that was exchanged between the two, and at some point this group of individuals began to violently attack this lone person who is also part of a gang, said Lt. Dave Madrigal.
Madrigal said one of the gang members in the group shot at the lone gang member, and the girl got hit by one of the many stray bullets. By the time officers arrived on scene, all of the alleged gang members had run off.
He said, That could be my child. That could be your child. That could be anybody out there, that kid did not ask for that.
The father of the girl said he fears violence may return to his area. Other neighbors we spoke to shared the same sentiment.
No suspects have been identified. Fresno Police said they are ramping up patrols because of the uptick in shootings the last few weeks.
We are initiating a gang opp, gang operation that will be starting off tonight and will go most likely for the next couple weeks, Madrigal ended.
If anyone has information on this case, they are urged to contact Fresno Police or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.

Lifetime Kayak
This is a short review of our Lifetime Kokanee 10'6 Tandem Sit On Top Kayak. We've owned it for around one year and have used it quite a bit. Other than being a tad slow in the water we love it. Super stable. Walmart still has it at a really good price.

Calling All Cars: The September Killer / Hard to Kill / Noblesse Oblige
The radio show Calling All Cars hired LAPD radio dispacher Jesse Rosenquist to be the voice of the dispatcher. Rosenquist was already famous because home radios could tune into early police radio frequencies. As the first police radio dispatcher presented to the public ear, his was the voice that actors went to when called upon for a radio dispatcher role.
The iconic television series Dragnet, with LAPD Detective Joe Friday as the primary character, was the first major media representation of the department. Real LAPD operations inspired Jack Webb to create the series and close cooperation with department officers let him make it as realistic as possible, including authentic police equipment and sound recording on-site at the police station.
Due to Dragnet's popularity, LAPD Chief Parker became, after J. Edgar Hoover, the most well known and respected law enforcement official in the nation. In the 1960s, when the LAPD under Chief Thomas Reddin expanded its community relations division and began efforts to reach out to the African-American community, Dragnet followed suit with more emphasis on internal affairs and community policing than solving crimes, the show's previous mainstay.
Several prominent representations of the LAPD and its officers in television and film include Adam-12, Blue Streak, Blue Thunder, Boomtown, The Closer, Colors, Crash, Columbo, Dark Blue, Die Hard, End of Watch, Heat, Hollywood Homicide, Hunter, Internal Affairs, Jackie Brown, L.A. Confidential, Lakeview Terrace, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Life, Numb3rs, The Shield, Southland, Speed, Street Kings, SWAT, Training Day and the Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour and Terminator film series. The LAPD is also featured in the video games Midnight Club II, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, L.A. Noire and Call of Juarez: The Cartel.
The LAPD has also been the subject of numerous novels. Elizabeth Linington used the department as her backdrop in three different series written under three different names, perhaps the most popular being those novel featuring Det. Lt. Luis Mendoza, who was introduced in the Edgar-nominated Case Pending. Joseph Wambaugh, the son of a Pittsburgh policeman, spent fourteen years in the department, using his background to write novels with authentic fictional depictions of life in the LAPD. Wambaugh also created the Emmy-winning TV anthology series Police Story. Wambaugh was also a major influence on James Ellroy, who wrote several novels about the Department set during the 1940s and 1950s, the most famous of which are probably The Black Dahlia, fictionalizing the LAPD's most famous cold case, and L.A. Confidential, which was made into a film of the same name. Both the novel and the film chronicled mass-murder and corruption inside and outside the force during the Parker era. Critic Roger Ebert indicates that the film's characters (from the 1950s) represent the choices ahead for the LAPD: assisting Hollywood limelight, aggressive policing with relaxed ethics, and a straight arrow approach.
Downsizing
From Academy Award winner Alexander Payne (The Descendants, Nebraska) comes the
hilarious film that delivers big comedy... and small Matt Damon. When scientists find a way to
shrink humans to five inches tall, Paul Safranek (Academy Award winner Matt Damon) and his
wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to ditch their stressed out lives in order to get small and
live large in a luxurious downsized community. Filled with life-changing adventures and
endless possibilities, Leisureland offers more than riches, as Paul discovers a whole new
world and realizes that we are meant for something bigger. Academy Award winner Christoph
Waltz (Django Unchained) also stars in this tremendously entertaining and original
film.

SUMMARY
=======
A timeline of United States inventions (1890–1945) encompasses the ingenuity and innovative advancements of the United States within a historical context, dating from the Progressive Era to the end of World War II, which have been achieved by inventors who are either native-born or naturalized citizens of the United States. Copyright protection secures a person's right to his or her first-to-invent claim of the original invention in question, highlighted in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution which gives the following enumerated power to the United States Congress:
In 1641, the first patent in North America was issued to Samuel Winslow by the General Court of Massachusetts for a new method of making salt. On April 10, 1790, President George Washington signed the Patent Act of 1790 (1 Stat. 109) into law which proclaimed that patents were to be authorized for any useful art, manufacture, engine, machine, or device, or any improvement therein not before known or used. On July 31, 1790, Samuel Hopkins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, became the first person in the United States to file and to be granted a patent under the new U.S. patent statute. The Patent Act of 1836 (Ch. 357, 5 Stat. 117) further clarified United States patent law to the extent of establishing a patent office where patent applications are filed, processed, and granted, contingent upon the language and scope of the claimant's invention, for a patent term of 14 years with an extension of up to an additional 7 years. From 1836 to 2011, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a total of 7,861,317 patents relating to several well-known inventions appearing throughout the timeline below. Some examples of patented inventions between the years 1890 and 1945 include John Froelich's tractor (1892), Ransom Eli Olds' assembly line (1901), Willis Carrier's air-conditioning (1902), the Wright Brothers' airplane (1903), and Robert H. Goddard's liquid-fuel rocket (1926).
