Sheffield Park Garden East Sussex
This has to be one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever visited. I made this film on 11th June 2010. Sheffield Park is owned by The National Trust and is an internationally renowned landscape garden laid out in the 18th century by Capability Brown and further developed in the 20th century by Arthur G Soames.

Sheffield Park Garden is an informal landscape garden five miles east of Haywards Heath, in East Sussex, England. It was originally laid out in the 18th century by Capability Brown, and further developed in the early 20th century by its then owner, Arthur Gilstrap Soames. It is now owned by the National Trust.
The gardens originally formed part of the estate of the adjacent Sheffield Park House, a gothic country house, which is still in private ownership. It was also firstly owned by the West Family and later by the Soames family until in 1925 the estate was sold by Arthur Granville Soames, who had inherited it from his childless uncle, Arthur Gilstrap Soames.
Sheffield Park as an estate is mentioned in the Domesday Book. In August 1538, Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk, entertained Henry VIII here. By 1700, the Deer Park had been partially formalised by Lord De La Warr who planted avenues of trees radiating from the house and cleared areas to establish lawns. In the late 1700s, James Wyatt remodelled the house in the fashionable Gothic style and Capability Brown was commissioned to landscape the garden. The original four lakes form the centrepiece. Humphry Repton followed Brown in 1789–1790. In 1769, the estate was sold to John Holroyd, created Baron Sheffield in 1781. It is particularly noted for its plantings of trees selected for autumn colour, including many Black Tupelos.
Rhododendron in Sheffield Park Garden
By 1885, an arboretum was being established, consisting of both exotic and native trees. After Arthur Gilstrap Soames purchased the estate in 1910, he continued large-scale planting. During World War II the house and garden became the headquarters for a Canadian armoured division, and Nissen huts were sited in the garden and woods. The estate was split up and sold in lots in 1953. The National Trust purchased approximately 40 ha in 1954, now up to 80 ha with subsequent additions. It is home to the National Collection of Ghent azaleas.
In 1876 the third Earl of Sheffield laid out a cricket pitch. It was used on 12 May 1884 for the first cricket match between England and Australia. The Australian team won by an innings and 6 runs.

National Trust Sheffield Park East Sussex
Sheffield Park we arrived just after it opened and started our walk round. A photo at ever turn so it seemed, I must have taken a few hundred in a few hours. We had a break for lunch then finished the bits of the walk we had cut short, which are in the Sheffield Park 2 show. It's a wonderful place to visit depending what you want to see at any time of the year it changes.

The Sheffield Parks
Sheffield Park is a cricket ground at the Sheffield Park estate, located near Uckfield, East Sussex, England. From 1881 to 1896 it was the home ground of Lord Sheffield's XI, organised by Henry Holroyd, 3rd Earl of Sheffield, who in 1891 donated £150 to the New South Wales Cricket Association which was used to purchase a plate and establish the competition known as the Sheffield Shield. Cricket had been played at the ground for the previous 30 years before 1881, but these matches were unrecorded.
The first recorded match on the ground was in 1881, when Lord Sheffield's XI played Alfred Shaw's XI, which was also the first first-class match on the ground. From 1881 to 1896, Lord Sheffield's XI played 9 first-class matches, the last of which came against the touring Australians. During this match, 25,000 people were allowed to watch the match for free; Lord Shffield never charged for people to come and watch matches at the ground.

Autumn Walk Around Lakewood near Uckfield, East Sussex.
On a recommendation, the lovely Julia and I visit Lakewood, a Woodland Trust nature reserve near Uckfield in East Sussex.
Once part of the Rocks Estate, the mix of natural and man-made features at Lake Wood create dramatic and beautiful views. We wander around and take in the autumn colours, explore the carved rock tunnels and admire the beautiful lake.

Walshes Park, Alderbrook Crowborough East Sussex 2018
Walshes Park Is a new recreational area that open in the Alderbrook area of Crowborough earlier the Year (2018). It is an Ideal place for dog walking but a bit difficult to find due to the lack of signs. I eventually found a way in via The Children's playground at the end of Adam close. It has a raised wooden walkway so it will still be usable in wet weather when the ground is muddy.
The background music I used in the video is a traditional tune called Cricket on the Hearth played by Rick Townend
