SHEFFIELD WALK | Charter Square in Sheffield City Centre ????
SHEFFIELD WALK | Charter Square in Sheffield City Centre ????
A walk around the streets of Sheffield and the new retail quarter in Sheffield City Centre, and the building of the new HSBC building in Charter Square
For this Sheffield walk we start at Barkers Pool outside the John Lewis department store. Looking around Barkers Pool we can see a few bars (Wetherspoons etc) before heading down Cambridge Street.
As we walk down Cambridge Street we pass Chubby's Takeaway (famous for it's chips and cheese for drunken revellers coming out of Sheffield's clubs and pubs!)
Further down there is the DINA building that is a grade II listed building that used to be Sheffield's very first free school!
We take a look at the new HSBC building under construction before heading down Charles Street, that was home to Charlie Parkers nightclub (also known as Raffles, or Faces) and Pollards Tea Shop.
At the end of Charles Street we take a right onto Pinstone Street and wander down past where Sugg Sports and HMV once were busy shops on this street, until we reach Furnival Gate where we cross over to the top of The Moor, one of Sheffield's best known and busiest shopping streets.
We pass Debenhams which is one of Sheffield's longest standing department stores which stands proud at the top of The Moor and walk around the back to Charter Square where we end this Sheffield Walk.
I'm sorry about the sounds of cranes and workmen in this video. Sheffield is under construction currently with lots of redevelopment underway and on this walk round Sheffield it was clear that I could do nothing to drown out the sound of the work!
We hope you enjoyed this short Sheffield walking tour of Sheffield City Centre. We upload new walks regularly so please subscribe for more videos when they're released!
Hope you find this Sheffield walk around interesting or useful or both! (Let me know in the comments section below)

SHEFFIELD MARKET | Moor Markets in Sheffield City Centre, Yorkshire, England
SHEFFIELD MARKET | A Sheffield walk round the Moor Market on The Moor in Sheffield City Centre, Yorkshire, England.

Sheffield Markets on the Moor is a new building that was designed and built to replace the Sheaf and Castle markets on the other side of the city centre.
Described by the Independent newspaper as the Borough Market of the north and a haven for food lovers. With more than 90 independent businesses the Moor Market provides a wealth of opportunity for a spot of retail therapy or picking up home essentials.
We have four fishmongers selling sea fresh fish and seafood including live crabs and lobsters, conger eels and the usual family favourites like cod, salmon and plaice.
Our 10 butchers provide beautiful cuts of meat, locally sourced wherever possible with stock ranging from beef and lamb to rabbit and goat. Our food stores include artisan producers and sellers such as Mr Gao's handmade baking & S&J's Pantry to bring customers amazing flavours and difficult to source spices and deli produce.
With two deli stores selling a wide range of specialist cheeses, teas and much more we have fast become the go to place to visit for gourmets and enthusiastic cooks. Global flavours abound in the Moor Market with cuisine from India, China, Africa, the Caribbean, UK, Italy and France.
Alongside our amazing food you’ll find a treasure trove of stores to explore including one of the best stocked haberdashery stalls in South Yorkshire, luscious fabrics, retro and vintage style home wares, jewellery, hand crafted items, clothing, foot wear, home furnishings and much more.
The Moor Market has a range of stalls offering the terrific quality but great value that is associated with the best markets.

Five weires walk River Don, part 1, Sheffield, UK
The 8 km long Five Weirs Walk runs alongside the River Don in Sheffield, England. From Lady's Bridge in Sheffield City Centre, it heads downstream, northeast, over the Cobweb Bridge, through Attercliffe to Meadowhall.
53.414°N 1.411°W
As the name of the walk suggests, it passes five weirs. It is now possible to continue the walk along the Don, under the Tinsley Viaduct, to Rotherham. As of 2010, the section of the walk between Sheffield and Meadowhall has been linked with the parallel Sheffield and Tinsley Canal towpath as an 8 mile circular walk known as The Blue Loop.
fiveweirs.co.uk 27/10/13

The Trust's activities are carried out by the Directors supported by a network of volunteers, many of whom have registered as Friends of the Trust in order to be included in information mailings etc.
Activities include Clean Ups, Educational Talks, Guided Walks and to provide assistance for those with an interest in the walk for educational purposes etc. Details of planned activities will be posted on this website.
SHEFFIELD WALK | Peace Gardens to Sheffield Train Station
SHEFFIELD WALK | Peace Gardens to Sheffield Midland Train Station
For this walk through Sheffield City Centre we begin at the Peace Gardens next to Shefield Town Hall.
As we set out from the Peace Gardens we can see the Mercure St Paul's Hotel and Spa just in front of the Sheffield Winter Gardens.

This is one of my favourite Sheffield Walks.
I thought I would walk through the Winter Garden to show you what it's like in there as there is currently the World Snooker Championships and during the tournament the Winter Garden plays host to live TV broadcasts from a custom built TV studio inside.
But we aren't there for that this time (if you'd like to see the studio check out my other videos) as we are wanting to film a quick walk to Sheffield Train Station so we head straight through the Winter Gardens and into Tudor Square.
Tudor Square is home to Sheffield Theatres. There is the world famous Crucible Theatre, The Lyceum Theatre, and the Library Theatre all on the square.
For a walk round Sheffield Tudor Square is a great place to stop off for something to eat and relax in Sheffield City Centre.
Walking through Tudor Square we can see the TV trucks at the Crucible Theatre there for the World Snooker Championships.
We now move between the Crucible and Lyceum theatres and down onto Arundel Gate and walk along with the Lyceum Stage Door on our right (so many famous people have walked in those doors over the years).
Further along as we walk through Sheffield we cross the busy road and down onto Howard Street where Sheffield Hallam University is situated.
We continue this Sheffield city centre walk down Howard Street to the bottom and cross over Paternoster Row and Sheaf Street until we reach Sheffield Midland Train Station.
This Sheffield walk is handy to know if you need to get from the Town Hall or Peace Gardens down to Sheffield Midland Station quickly.

Attracting well over 50,000 visitors to the city centre each year, Sheffield Food Festival has firmly established itself as one of the biggest and best attractions in the city.
A celebration of Sheffield’s vibrant food scene, the Sheffield Food Festival showcases the city’s best local chefs, dishes, produce, talent and so much more.
Over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, the incredible Sheffield Food Festival takes place across Fargate, Orchard Square, Pinstone Street, the Peace Gardens and around the St. Pauls/Millennium Square area.
More than 100 traders descend into the city centre to create a unique, friendly community-like hub and marketplace - with street food, drinks, entertainment, demonstrations and much more.
So, what can you expect to find on a visit to Sheffield Food Fest? As the name suggests - you’ll encounter amazing food, from street food stalls to local restauranteurs showing off their grub. If you like your pizzas and burgers there will always be something for you, whilst world food lovers can enjoy everything from Indian cuisine to traditional delicious Caribbean fare. Want to try something different? There is tasty vegan and vegetarian treats, Canadian speciality Poutine, Mexican Burritos, Pan-Asian dishes , Thai street food and loads, loads more. Put simply - the choice is almost overwhelming whilst the all-round quality is exceptional.
For those who fancy a drink, many of the city’s brewers and distillers are represented from the likes of Abbeydale Brewery, Bradfield Brewery, Kelham Island Brewery, True North Brew Co, Loxley Brewing, Locksley Distilling, Stancill Brewery and loads more.
There’s entertainment to be had too - the ‘Eats, Beats and Treats’ village area at the top of Fargate has an incredible line-up of local talent performing on stage across all four days - from some of the best singers and bands to amazing wordsmith poets and hip-hop artists to exceptional DJ’s mixing up your favourite tunes.
For those who want to learn about local producers, and sample some of the wonderful treats being made in the city, there’s the free Theatre Kitchen where chefs or makers from across Sheffield will show you how to cook some of their specialities or guide you through their processes and produce. Beyond the street food trucks you find numerous locally based Artisan traders selling everything from fresh Patisserie to amazing cookbooks; superb take-home pies to incredible ranges of gins and beers. Like cheese or hot sauce? You’ve come to the right place with a number of vendors offering samples and produce to take home.
All that is literally just scratching the surface of this amazing annual weekend event, with Children’s activities and family fun taking place plus many interesting talks and debates happening throughout… there’s even areas where you can connect with local community food hubs and arrange to have sustainable, affordable locally-sourced organic vegetables, fruit and other items regularly delivered to you.
Many brilliant - and growing - events take place across these city centre areas each year, such as the famous continental food markets to Sheffield-by-the-seaside to the impressive Christmas Markets - but Sheffield Food Festival does seem to be the biggest and best one of them all currently and is a must-visit for locals and travellers alike.

SHEFFIELD WALK | Barkers Pool to The Crucible Theatre and Tudor Square in Sheffield CIty Centre
A short walk through Sheffield City Centre starting at Barkers Pool

A Walk through Sheffield City Centre from Barkers Pool to The Crucible Theatre and Tudor Square, with a full walk around The Crucible including the Stage Door.
We begin this walk through Sheffield City Centre in Barkers Pool (our previous video was a walk around Sheffield City Hall - check it out!)
As we cross over Pinstone Street next to Sheffield Town Hall we head down towards the Winter Gardens, Central Library and Tudor Square.
As we get to The Crucible Theatre I was going to stop there but then though why not have a wander all the way around the theatre and show it from every side?
So we head down to Arundel Gate, past the new transport interchange across the road from Sheffield O2 Academy and round to the back part of The Crucible Theatre.
This is the side of the theatre in Sheffield City Centre seen most from passing buses and transport and a bit bland to be honest but hey never mind.
We come around The Crucible, up between The Crucible and Lyceum Theatres and back into Tudor Square as the World Snooker Championship is being prepared for.

SHEFFIELD WALK | Paternoster Row and Sidney Street
SHEFFIELD WALK | Paternoster Row and Sidney Street ????????
This walk through Sheffield City Centre starts at the train station as we head up and across Sheaf Street and onto Paternoster Row.
Here we see the Showroom Cinema on our left and the Sheffield University hubs on the right (formerly the National Museum of Popular Music).

Edited on Apple MacBook Pro -
We head down Paternoster Row and past The Rutland Arms (pub) as we continue our walk round Sheffield by heading across Matilda Street and onto Sidney Street.
Sheffield City Centre is changing a lot and this whole area is due for major redevelopment and walking through Sheffield will be very different in a few years as old factories and buildings are flattened to make way for a very new looking Sheffield.
Sheffield History will always refer to the many steelworks, cutlery factories and forges and here on Sidney Street were many little workshops and factories tucked away all producing magnificent steel products for the world.
Now the History Of Sheffield is in the past we forge forward into the future and build a brand new Sheffield and hopefully it will be a change for the better.
I hope you find this Sheffield Walk down Paternoster Row and Sidney Street useful

Ringinglow Yorkshire Moors Nightmare Trek - Sheffield Walks. Things to do
The Peak district is just on the outskirts of Sheffield. Follow Ringinglow Road out of the city and within about 5 mins you can park and start treking onto the Yorkshire Moors. So we threw ourselves into the deep end, parked the car and started to walk onto the moors, soon leaving the path and going onto the moors proper. Though, maybe we shouldn't have left the path until we'd done the walk a few times, but then again that would take soem of the adventure out of going to an area for the first time when everything is unknown. Anyway were's our experience of what happens when one leaves the Ringinglow path and gets into proper moorland bogs! Also make sure you have enough time to make it back before nightfall else you could be working against the clock that could turn into a nightmare return trek!
Subscribe to our channel for new videos of all the fun things to do in and around the city of Sheffield!
And visit for even more.

A short walk up The Moor in Sheffield to the steps of Sheffield Town Hall in Sheffield City Centre, Yorkshire, England.
Sheffield city centre is undergoing much development currently with a new retail and shopping quarter currently being built at the time of filming this walk (2018)
We start this short Sheffield City Centre walk at Moorfoot in front of the Manpower building there and head up and onto The Moor.
On the right of us is The Moor Markets, a new indoor market building designed to replace Sheaf Market and Castle Market at the other side of the city centre that was demolished for redevelopment there.
Outside the indoor market building are a number of outdoor market stalls of local Sheffield independent businesses all doing their thing.
Further up we see the new cinema and shopping complex that houses THE LIGHT CINEMA as well as retails shops underneath and bars and restaurants up on the first floor up the elevator.
As we reach the top end of the Moor on this walk through Sheffield City Centre we see Debenhams on the left which has been there many years, and on the right the latest stage of redevelopment in Sheffield due to happen.
Crossing over onto Pinstone Street we head up the row of shops and businesses until we reach The Peace Gardens and our final end point of the steps of Sheffield Town Hall.
