The Jus' Cauz Bluegrass Band is a high-energy bluegrass band based in Danville, Virginia, and is one of the most popular bands in south- central and south-western Virginia. Formed in 2010 from the the highly-popular Shallow Creek Band, Jus’ Cauz has played throughout the eastern United States and is an award-winning band. Most recently, Jus’ Cauz was named the South Carolina State Band Champion as part of RenoFest 2014, and the 2012 Best Bluegrass Band in Virginia. Jus' Cauz is a multi-talented quintet featuring Mark Hudson on guitar and vocals, David Lewis on mandolin and vocals, Jason Flinchum on bass, Mark Wallace on banjo and vocals, and special guest fiddler Tim Martin. A blend of tight harmonies and skillful musicianship, the band showcases their musical and songwriting abilities while acknowledging their traditional folk, bluegrass, and gospel roots.
Always growing in popularity and maintaining an ambitious touring and recording schedule, the band released its debut album in 2013 and has recently finished its second album entitled Jus’ Cauz: Jus’ Bluegrass, which is a traditional bluegrass album. Later this year, the band will record its third album, a traditional gospel album. The Jus’ Cauz Band is in demand for local events, benefits, shows, and bluegrass festivals, and notable venues and performances include Song of the Mountains, National Public Radio's Back to the Blue Ridge, Blue Ridge Music Center, the Luray, Blue Ridge Folk Life, Amelia, Wayside, and Virginia Folk Music Association bluegrass festivals, and opening for musical groups such as Dailey & Vincent, James King, and Little Roy and Lizzy Long. The band has also been invited to showcase at the 2015 Cabin Fever Pickin’ Party in Virginia Beach, Virginia, will be featured at Renofest 2015, and will also be highlighted in an upcoming documentary about the Rivertown Bluegrass Society in Conway, South Carolina.
In 2013, the band’s debut album Then & There showcased the songwriting abilities of Mark Hudson and Mark Wallace, in addition to traditional bluegrass and gospel standards. Featured on NPR’s Back to the Blue Ridge, the album has been hailed by critics, disc jockeys, and local press and media as a wonderful collection of new and standard songs, showcasing the wide range of musical abilities of each member in the band.
