Zhoushan, a unique port and tourist city of China, lies at the southern flank of Yangtze River estuary and outer edge of Hangzhou Bay. It is regarded as “Buddhist Paradise on the Sea; also it is well known fo its fishery.
Zhoushan Islands is said to be the largest islands along China's coastline, covering a total area of 22,000 km², of which an area of 20,800 km² is sea. It features in fascinating islands landscapes. It is a group of over 400 islands off the northern coast of Zhejiang province. Among those islands, Zhoushan Island is the largest one, and it is the fourth largest island of China.
These islands were initially brought under regular Chinese administration in the 8th century, after which they were administered from Shanghai on the mainland. The significance of these islands were that they provided excellent harbours for the flourishing trade linking Japan, the Ryukyu Islands, and the Zhejiang ports of Ningbo as well as Hangzhou.
The main attractions of the Zhoushan Islands are:
• Zhujiajian Island: The fifth largest island in Zhoushan Islands, it has the fame The Oriental Hawaii;
• Putuo Mountain: China's One of the Four Holy Buddhist Mountains;
• Shenjiamen fishing port: China's largest Marine fishing port, has Zhoushan's largest seafood;
• Taohua Island: a famous scenic spot collecting the sea, mountains, stones, rocks, holes, temples, flowers, forest, birds, military sites, historical memorially, moya carved stone, myths and legends, etc...;
• Dinghai: a famous and unique historic and cultural town in China.

Haitian Buddhism, South China Sea：Mount Putuo，China
Putuo Mountain, together with Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, Mount Emei in Sichuan, and Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui Province, is known as the four famous mountains of Chinese Buddhism. It is the dojo of Guanyin Bodhisattva to educate all beings. Putuo Mountain is one of the 1390 islands in the Zhoushan Islands. It is similar to the Canglong Sea, covering an area of nearly 13 square kilometers. It faces the Shenjiamen of the Zhoushan Islands across the sea. It is known as the Haitian Buddha Kingdom and the South China Sea Holy Land. It is said to be the first batch of national key scenic spots.

Where is Mt. Putuo?
Putuoshan (Putuo Mountain) is located on one of the Zhoushan Islands in eastern Zhejiang Province. It is in the middle of the Zhoushan Islands offshore from the city of Ningbo. So it easily reached from Shanghai, Hangzhou or Ningbo. Putuoshan is one of the four Buddhist Mountains of China. Others are Wutaishan, E'meishan and Jiuhuashan (Bodhimandas for Manjusri, Ksitigarbha, and Samantabhadra, respectively). Besides the many temples, the island is also lush in vegetation and a profusion of forests, all flourishing in the warm and humid climate.
How to Get Mt. Putoushan from Hangzhou
→Option 1
From Hangzhou, there are buses from the Hangzhou South Bus Station (407 Qiutao Rd.) to the bus station on Zhoushan Shenjiamen. Buses depart approximately once per hour, ant the journey takes about 3 to 4 hours. The cost is ¥70. The bus journey no longer involves a vehicular ferry from the mainland to Zhoushan because a new bridge has been competed.

Travelers can also take bus at Hangzhou South Bus Station or Jiubao Bus Station and get off at Shenjiamen Stop. Then transfer to a public bus or catch a taxi to arrive at Banshengdong Wharf at Shenjiamen. From there you can get on a ferry to get to Putuoshan and enjoy your tour there. the ferry runs from 6:00 am to 3:00 am and departs every 25 minutes. The ferry only takes about 15 minutes to reach Putuo.

Hailisheng Hotel - Zhoushan
The Zhoushan Hailisheng Hotel (Zhoushan Hailisheng Dajiudian) is conveniently located in China's biggest fishing port, Shenjiamen, and overlooks the sacred, Buddhist peak of Putuo Mountain. It is a mere five-minutes walk from sidewalk seafood snack-booths.
The hotel offers various deluxe rooms with imported Toto sanitary wares. Various restaurants are also available.
Putuo Huajing Hotel
This facility can be found in the famous Shen Jia Men Fishing Harbor, which is nicknamed the Pearl of East Sea. The Putuo Huajing Hotel is one of several hotels in Zhoushan to be conveniently located near the central downtown area. Nearby attractions include Pu Tuo Mountain and the Zhu Jia Jiao Across-Sea Bridge. This hotel can be found at No.58 Binggang Road, Shenjiamen in Zhoushan, China. The Putuo Huajing Hotel is just six kilometers from the Pu Tuo Mountain Airport. It is about two kilometers from the pier.
Guests staying at the Putuo Huajing Hotel can choose between standard rooms, single rooms and suites. All rooms are air-conditioned (centralized only) and have private bathrooms. All 150 rooms face Nansha Beach. Room types include standards, deluxe ocean-view rooms and deluxe ocean-view suites. Guests are limited to chess or cards when it comes to the recreation available indoors, but can find more to do nearby. Other facilities available to guests at this Zhoushan hotel include a Chinese restaruant, a lobby bar and a teahouse.

Hi, my name is Celina Lou, and I am the Canadian Trade Office manager in Hangzhou.
Hangzhou is the capital city of Zhejiang province. It is renowned for its high living standards, well-developed infrastructure, and proximity to Shanghai, only 170 kilometers away, or a quick 60 minute trip by train. Alibaba, the world's largest e-business platform, is headquartered in Hangzhou.
Located in the South-East coast of China, Zhejiang Province boasts the fourth largest provincial economy in China, with a GDP exceeding 800 billion dollars Canadian in 2014.
Zhejiang is home to more than 55 million residents and it covers a land area exceeding a hundred thousand square kilometres. It is a leading province in e-commerce, modern logistics and high-tech. In 2013, Zhejiang’s e-commerce transactions were roughly $277 billion Canadian dollars.
The private sector generates over 70% of the GDP and creates over 90% of new jobs in Zhejiang. Over the past 15 years, Zhejiang’s private enterprises have consistently accounted for about one third of China’s Top 500 Private Enterprises, which is the largest proportion in Mainland China. It is also worth mentioning that Zhejiang has a large number of SMEs and startups.
Recently more and more people are paying greater attention to food safety. Increasing disposable incomes are allowing consumers to enjoy imported food and beverages. There is strong demand for Canadian food products, which are known for their high quality. Meanwhile, Chinese e-Commerce platforms are improving accessibility to Canadian foods as well as to Canadian consumer products, such as health products, nutraceuticals and cosmetic products.
Two of the six pilot cross-border e-commerce cities announced by the state government are located in Zhejiang province, namely Hangzhou and Ningbo. Hangzhou’s goal is to become the “e-commerce capital of China” while Ningbo’s shipping hub facilitates access to international markets. These cross-border e-commerce platforms allow Canadian SMEs to mitigate the risks associated with entering new markets.
The fast pace of industrial development has resulted in serious pollution to Zhejiang’s water bodies. In late 2013, the Zhejiang Provincial Government committed to an investment of 80 billion Canadian dollars over 3 years to manage water resources in Zhejiang. Potential opportunities include the treatment of wastewater, flood control, storm water drainage, potable water security and water use efficiency.
There are many opportunities in the Ocean Technology sector. The Ningbo-Zhoushan port in Zhejiang Province is a large comprehensive harbor with a handling capacity of a hundred million tons. The Zhoushan Fishery is the largest in China, while the Shipu and Shenjiamen fishing ports are two of the four largest fish producers in China.
There are always challenges when doing business abroad, such as commercial risks, language and culture differences.
Although the number of English speakers in China is rising rapidly, most of the key decision makers in Zhejiang are unable to negotiate business transactions in English or French.
