Why do we need green in the cities? | Niek Roozen | TEDxZwolle
How green is the place where we live and where we work, how green are our cities? Why do we need green in the cities?
Niek Roozen has been working on the development of many landscape projects in China and cooperate intensively with Chinese landscape architects in Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Shenyang. Designing greener cities is his purpose, he will talk about it at TEDxZwolle.
Niek Roozen has been a landscape architect since 1974. Over the years, he and his team have worked, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of projects such as city parks, horticulture exhibitions and theme parks. An important assignment has been the design of the master plan for Floriade 2002. Roozen was the chief architect for this World Horticultural Exhibition. Since 1998, the members of the office have been working on the development of many landscape projects in China and cooperate intensively with the Chinese landscape architects in Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Shenyang. With the NITA Shanghai Niek Roozen designed the Central Green Park of the World EXPO 2010 in Shanghai after winning the first prize in an international design competition.
In 2005 he was invited to visit the city of Shenyang to become a general advisor for the Shenyang Horticultural Expo 2006. After this successful project Niek was invited by the city Government of Shenyang to design more projects for different departments of the city to make Shenyang and other cities in China more beautiful and liveable.
Designing greener cities is the starting point of the speech of Niek Roozen at TEDxZwolle. In all their designs the plant schemes play an important role. The projects are based on the Green City Philosophy, which was initiated during the Floriade 2002, showing the positive influence plants have on the improvement of our environment.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

The world was here. Almost every continent and country was represented at this annual festival. Several cultural costumes, a lot of food and drinks, and of course a lot of pictures and selfies.
We were many and different
Diverse cultures and beliefs
Different races and colours
In different sizes and shapes
How each person was proud of his origin
How we seem to love and be bonded outside these divisions that made us different.
A cultural day can serve as a common ground for friendship.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Shenyang ([ʂə̀n.jǎŋ]; Chinese: 沈阳), formerly known by its Manchu name Mukden or Fengtian (Chinese: 奉天; pinyin: Fèngtiān), is the provincial capital and the largest city of Liaoning Province, People's Republic of China, as well as the largest city in Northeast China by urban population. According to the 2010 census, the city's urban area has 6.3 million inhabitants, while the total population of the Shenyang municipality, which holds the administrative status of a sub-provincial city, is up to 8.1 million. Shenyang is also the center city of one of the major metropolitan areas in China, the Greater Shenyang Metro Area, with a total population over 23 million. The city’s region includes the ten metropolitan districts of Shenyang proper, the county-level city of Xinmin, and two counties of Kangping and Faku.
In the 17th century, Shenyang was conquered by the Manchu people and briefly used as the capital of the Qing dynasty. The Battle of Mukden took place in 1905 as part of the Russo-Japanese War. Japan's subsequent victory allowed them to increase their influence on Shenyang; the Mukden Incident led the Japanese to further invade and occupy the rest of Northeast China, creating the puppet state of Manchukuo. Shenyang remained a Kuomintang stronghold after Japan's defeat, but was captured by the communists in 1948.
Along with its nearby cities, Shenyang is an important industrial center in China, and serves as the transportation and commercial hub of China's northeast—particularly with Japan, Russia and Korea. A center of heavy industry in China since the 1930s, and the spearhead of the Chinese central government's Northeast Area Revitalization Plan, the city has been diversifying its industry, including expanding into the service sector. Growing industries include software, automotive and electronics.

SOUTH AFRICANS HAS SHOCKED US …AGAIN
Xenophobia is a deep dislike for non-nationals or foreigners by the foreigners which could lead to prejudice and killing the foreigners. This hideous behavior has occurred about thrice in recent times. The killing of innocent lives, who work hard and pay tax, under the guise of occupying too much space in your country is beyond what a rational human can understand. If they are illegal immigrants, why not deport them?
Other countries would run to the aid of South Africans when they need help and will risk their lives for them, but look at them behave barbarically towards their kind.
And to worsen the situation, the President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa had kept silent and just spoke up. The Deputy Minister of Police Affairs said nothing in his speech to calm the anger of on-viewers., rather his statements justifies the activities of the mob and rioters.
MTN, DSTV/MULTICHOICE, SHOPRITE were made wealthy by these same Nigerians you kill.
I feel horrible for all the people and families who are in mourning, and for all the people who have lost a part of their bodies and/or lost their property. May God comfort you.
